US Embassy in Poland-- Co-Sponsors

hi everyone,

my fiance and are doing the K1 process while living in Poland together (I quit my job last June to come live with him while we do the petition). The petition is on its way to the NVC now so we will be getting stuff ready in the meantime.

Question: I've been unemployed for almost a year but have money in a savings account that I have access to through my father. He's agree to co-sponsor as well, so we have plenty in the form of funds. But is the embassy strict about the US citizen's employment status? A lot of the things I've read say that I'll be fine because we have a co-sponsor who meets the financial guidelines. But I want to be sure we won't be denied because I'm unemployed. Not sure if this embassy is more or less strict than others in this regard.

any info is appreciated!

As long as you have a co-sponsor, you're fine!

Good luck!

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Thank you! I plan to start job hunting as soon as we get into the states too, so hopefully that will help as well :)

Future plans won't have any impact on the visa application, but as I said - you will be fine with the co-sponsor.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Hi mumbles,

My husband and I were in a similar situation, except we were applying for spouse visa (IR1), not fiancee visa.

My husband (the USC) lived with me in Poland when we started the process. His stepfather is my joint sponsor. We got our case approved by NVC without problems and now getting ready for my interview at the embassy in Warsaw on May 11th.

January 2011 - met in USA

Sep 28, 2013 - wedding in Poland

USCIS:

Sep 23, 2015 - mailed I-130 package to Chicago lockbox

Nov 3, 2015 - I-130 approved (29 days from NOA1)

Nov 12, 2015 - received NOA2 via snail mail

NVC:

Jan 2, 2016 - DS-261 submitted

Feb 6, 2016 - DS-260 submitted

CONSULATE:

Apr 26, 2016 - medical exam

May 10, 2016 - interview at the Embassy in Warsaw, Poland - result: APPROVED!

May 16, 2016 - visa in hand

POE:

Jul 23, 2016 - POE: Chicago O'Hare

NATURALIZATION:

Dec 16, 2019 - filed N-400 online

Feb 24, 2020 - naturalization interview in Phoenix, AZ

Hey mumbles,

my interview went good, visa was approved. I submitted embassy review, which you can read here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Poland

Let me know if you have any questions not covered in the review :)

Having a joint sponsor was not an issue.

Thanks so much for linking your review! You had to leave all your electronics at the door, but did they allow you to take in your purse?

Yes, purse was allowed (wallet, keys, cosmetics etc. inside the purse were not a problem). They will take everything electronic (phone, mp3 player, etc.) into deposit for the duration of the interview. No liquids allowed either.
