Yea, we'll be covered with both - the Name/DOB for the IV packet and the additional certified/fingerprint version for the interview, just in case. I think my wife will be ok with the smallish stack of papers, since she's inherently quite anxious about the process and can use it as a makeshift shield XD

I'm now considering whether or not to include more bonafide marriage proof beyond the marriage certificate... I guess including pictures, invitations, and a box full of congratulatory letters would be enough, I hope? Or should I go ahead and get signed affidavits. I mean, we've been married for six years, but ... you just never know...

Some regular communication, shared bank account, pictures, or proof of time spent together would be better than invitations and congratulatory letters.

  • 1 month later...

I only got a local police check (from Vancouver Police Department) and not the RCMP... I submitted a copy of it to NVC and my case was completed. Will my VPD police certificate be okay or should I look into getting an RCMP one?

As long as they did the Canada wide name check you should be fine (CPIC). Many places have a local police and in those situations, the RCMP won't do the check for you.

For instance where I used to live in Red Deer, AB, there is no local police or provincial police, so I had to use the RCMP or Commissionaires.
