Alright I'm not sure what to make of this bear with me while I set the background.

In 2014 my wife now ex left while I was on a business trip and filed for divorce. In that process she filed a order of protection with no cause but was granted anyway. After fighting it with no success I'm stuck with it until August.

I've travelled to Thailand 3 times since then and met my fiancé.

First trip was vacation where we met. On return to USA I was detained at San Fransisco airport coming through immigration and it was because of the protection order.

2nd trip was 8 months later to visit and ask her to marry me. On return through JFK airport, I was again flagged with the X but the officer asked if I knew and I said yes and what it was and all was good.

3 rd trip was after filing for the K1 visa and currently it's in Bangok waiting on interview. On return to USA through Newark I was again sent to a holding area. After 20 minutes I was asked a series of questions and the agent seemed as if I was lying. Questions about traveling alone, what I bought, where my kids were and really being a douche. No one ever told me why I was detained again but I assumed it was the protection order but maybe after thinking about it, they knew about the visa application and were keyed to that.

Any thoughts ?

You're the USC? The CBP doesn't have any information about your pending application - must be something else.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

USC ? I'm the petitioner. I was coming back to the US through Newark, NJ.

USC = United States Citizen.

As I said, they don't have any information about your petition. Also, why would they care?

It's very strange that a USC is questioned upon arrival to their home country.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Well I have the protection order. Was told the first time if we were traveling together they would arrest us both. 2 Ned time was the same issue I was told. This third time was a little more intense. I understand what you are saying. However I've been stopped every time since the order of protection was in place.

Maybe this guy was over zealous.

Well, from my experience - the intensity level just depends on the officer you meet. If you have an issue that they (for some reason) address upon every entry, I would assume the third time was also about the same issue.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
