Hello. I have the following question here. I am waiting for the interview to be scheduled for my parents. My father was convicted for fraud 19 years ago, however, the police certificate shows that he has never been convicted/arrested. Should i be worried that my father would be refused for the visa?

Does he have his arrest record, court document for his conviction?

Even if the crime is expunged, he still has to declare it.

no, but i told him to get it just in case..

so if it's expunged, are there any chances that he will be refused?

What is the severity of the fraud conviction? Was it a felony?

There is no such thing as expunged for immigrant visas. An expunged crime can still make you inadmissible.

You should aware that Fraud is CIMT (Crimes involving moral turpitude).

It sounds like he disclosed the incident which is good. If he hasn't then I'd say that there's a good chance that he'd be denied for misrepresentation if they discovered it. But if he's disclosed, has all the court paperwork, then hopefully he'll be approved. It all depends on how severe it is. He should expect a number of hard questions about it. Remind him to answer all questions honestly but to not answer questions that aren't asked (aka don't volunteer too much information). Good luck.

I actually recently found out about his conviction (1998) at that time i was 10 years old and my parents never told me anything about it. My father ha been in prison for 8 months and it was a case of a fake dollar bill, but he was not aware of it.

GEt the court paperwork, if not available a statement that the records no longer exist.
