my montreal interview!

i didn't know i could just call the national visa center to receive the status of my case- i thought i'd have to deal with montreal, but i noticed there were many of you who called, so i called. first time i called a man took my call and said they didn't assign the april interviews yet, but my case was completed feb 7 and those of you who found out your interview date were after mine. so i called again, haha. and this time i got a lady who said it was april 5th. three weeks! i had my husband call again a few hours later just to make sure, haha.

to make sure i have all my documents ready, does anyone have a checklist they could offer me, and a list of doctors i could go to? i assume there's probably only one in the windsor, ontario, area. thanks in advance!

do i need to wait for something from montreal- receive a paper i need to bring with me for the medical exam? or can i just go in and let them know i need an exam for a visa? we still haven't received anything in paper form from them. regular doctors are difficult to get an appointment with, i imagine it will take a bit to get one there, too.

Congrats!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'm a bit confused about your questions because you would have received all that information in Packet 3. (I may have missed something from a previous post so please excuse me if I did.) All you need to take to the medical is the letter from Packet 3 showing your case #. Good luck.

Do you have something from NVC stating your case number? All the really need is the NVC case number. You can call them and ask if you can bring whatever you have from the NVC showing that number.

I am from Windsor, Ontario and went to Dr. Laura Penava. She was really great actually .. very nice lady ... very simple process and the most non-physical physical I had ever had. Nothing to worry about. However, they did want to see my LETTER from the consulate. It's the first thing they asked for. Just an FYI.

my husband just went to see our lawyer. he said that montreal is still deciding if they want to take jurisdiction over our case, but the fact that they scheduled an interview is a good sign

(in a nuthshell, i was born in europe, moved to and lived in the US for 15 yrs, then came to canada. so i dont have a permanent status here yet. i just have a pending humanitarian and compassionate case)

he said the lawyer said to just bring pictures from all 4 years of our relationship.

but our 130 got approved and all that, why would jurisdiction be about our marriage?

what kinds of things should i bring? just a copy of the whole 130 packet we sent in, since it worked the first time? lol or go for overkill and have our families and friends re-write letters? new pictures? bank statements from when he's here in canada and we go out to eat or something? (we live just across the bridge, i see him 3 days a week).

i thought jurisdiction would depend more on my 2.5 yrs here in canada? should i bring letters from employment? tax stuff? a new police clearance?

just concentrate on the yrs we were together in the US? like to show we didnt get married before i left so i could stay, and we waited over a year after i got to windsor to get married?

basically... besides taking deep breaths, what should i do? hah

i havent received my final packet with my checklist and medical exam and whatever else is in it. i just called the NVC and they said they gave me an interview, my packet will arrive before my interview date.

so i want to get everything i need together, but it's difficult without an actual checklist in my hand.

unless someone can scan one in for me, so i can see what i need to get together. :help::blush:
