Hey Preet,

I know your precarious situation you guys are in. I know its very hard for parents once they reach certain age to stay here. Your best bet wud b they becum citizen which will take 5 years and move back to india with OCI as my parents did. Other wide if they keep switching back and forth immigration officer might give them hard time. Gud Luck.

That would require them to actually live in the US. It's much better if the mother stays in India. Moving would only confuse her as people with dementia kind of travels back in time. She will forget things that has happened now and remember things that has happened long time ago. Keeping her in a familiar place is much better. She is better of in India. And depending on the type of dementia and in what stage she is in, she might not even have 5 years.

From what I can gather they have never lived in the US and PR status is just waiting to be cancelled whenever somebody decides to take action.

Slightly intrigued how you file for Parents living elsewhere on your US Taxes, you can claim a credit presumably, does not seem to make much sense.

Can they claim parents not living in the U.S. as "dependents"? I didn't think that was possible.

This could benefit a lot of members.
