Questions after package 3 for K1 & K2 China

Hello fellow Visa goers,

I'm so excited on the progress this far and don't doubt we will make it through, given all the positive testimonies, but since I'm right in the thick of it, any guidance from previous experiences sure would alleviate some of the worries, that's what we're all here for.

My fiancé is in Guangzhou China and just recieved the package 3 from consulate, we are still in the process to completing the DS-160, passport photos and copy of the passport information page, and mailing this all back.

I am visiting my fiancé this weekend in GZ, China and could sure use some guidance with next steps and all:

1. I am completing the I-134 proof of affidavit of support and feel good about the information needed here, I just wondered when would be the best time to hand it to my fiancé and at what point will it be needed by the consulate?

2 My fiancé is divorced and we already submitted copies of our divorce decrees with the I-129F, not sure if this may apply to our case , but, I read a review that someone needed a " single certificate " to prove they are single, Is that the same as a divorce decree?

3. For K1 & K2, will we need to pay visa fees after submitting the DS-160? If so, how is that done and how much are the fees? Any follow up steps at this point?

4. Interview Appointmmet - At What point will we be able to make an interview appt. and how is that done? How far out are the appointments?

5. Birth certificate, my fiancé was born in small town and does not have a birth certificate or "white book", she plans to go back to her home town to get that in the next couple weeks, I read it would be wise to buy 1 or 2 extra "white books" for future use. Any advice for obtaining the birth certificate or white books, estimated time to obtain and costs?

6. Police record, I assume there will be additional instructions in package 4, but I'm wondering if my fiancé will need to go back to her hometown to get the police record when she gets the birth certificate? Estimated turnaround time and cost, need to bring anything?

7. Medical exams, will they be required for both fiancé and the K2 child? My fiancé has no vaccine records, the child does have vaccine records they intend to bring to the evaluation. Need to bring anything else?

I suppose the email package 4 will soon follow after we mail back package 3 , and will provide some additional information on the above questions , but , I would appreciate any advice / tips and next steps for us to keep an eye out for.

I sure hope I'm in the right place to post all of this and hope you don't mind some follow up questions.

Thanks in advance and much appreciated!

Good luck to everyone!

hey there,

1. Try to put the date as recent as possible to the day of interview. So 5 days before the actual interview would be safe.

2. Make sure to have a copy of the divorce certificates with yourself in the day of interview. I promise you 100 percent that they will want to see it!

3. Once you're done filling ds-160, you will go ahead and choose an appointment date and that's when you have to pay the fee. As far as I remember it was 260 USD for k-1 visa.

4. You do not schedule an appointment unless you have been told to do so by the embassy. I got the appointment for my k-1 visa for 10 days from when I was actually schedualing it. It may change from embassy to embassy though. Check the local embassy website.

5. No idea about that. Just make sure to have the birth certificate! This is very very important! They will ask for it!

6. No idea

7. No idea, check the local webpage.

good luck you guys

Hi,

Per my timeline, I waited 11 days from date packet arrived at GZ and when I received the P3. My fiance received the package via "China Post", delivered to her home address in GZ.

Consulate Received : 2016-04-01

Packet 3 Received : 2016-04-12

Give it another week and then you may want to contact the consulate directly by using their web contact form.

BTW.. I checked your timeline and your consulate is listed as "Armenia" is that correct or you may want to update that.

Be sure to read the packet #3 instructions and associated links, many of your questions are answered, or accessible, there. As others have said, for further questions contact the GUZ IV unit via email. Keep in mind the GUZ IV unit email response time can be slow.
