I'm wondering, has anyone been able to get the I-551 stamp during an Infopass appointment specifically from Boston?

Thanks!

I heard that generally if you bring the welcome letter to info pass, then they can stamp the passport. Were you given the welcome letter after the interview?

You don't get the welcome letter at interview, you get it in the mail. Usually a few days before your get your actual green card.

I got a I-551 stamp in Boston, I needed to leave the country for a few days on business and I took a letter from my employer and the flight tickets to an infopass appointment and asked for the stamp... they gave me one for 12 months... that was in Nov 2005 so not sure if they are still doing that...

Thanks Theresa, dr lha, and Kez! :)

I tried to get a stamp through an Infopass because I have a very good job offer and the only thing the company needed to hire me was proof of employment eligibility. However, the officer didn't give me one and said that since they manufacture cards rather quickly now, they have ceased to give out the I-551 stamp.

It's just depressing because this'll be the third job offer I turn down. I applied for an EAD and received it less than a week before my interview but it was taken by the adjudicator so I didn't even get the chance to use it. Sigh.

But, at least I'm done with the interview and namecheck so I'm counting my blessings.

Wow, that's really f***ing annoying. However you should tell the employer that you are work authorised (as your GC was approved), and according to the I-9, you have 90 days to present them with the evidence from date of hire. You should get your Green Card within that 90 days, fulfilling the employers I-9 legal obligations.

Still it would be simpler if they just gave you the damn stamp eh? I had to wait 2 months between my interview and GC arriving, but luckily they "forgot" to take my EAD at the interview (I was approved at interview, no namecheck), which was useful as I was asked for proof of employment authorization about a month after my interview.

Yeah, I wouldn't turn down the job just yet...I mean, you were approved. Can you explain to them your situation? I hope the best for you! :)

You had to wait 2 months??? Wow! Now I'm getting even more paranoid!

Yeah, it is sort of annoying. I don't even have any proof of status, right now. It's like, being undefined. When I had my I-94 and/or EAD, at least I could prove to anyone that I'm a legal alien. Now, I can't. Oh well. I just pray that it'll come soon.

Yeah, but if you got your "card production ordered" email already, then you should be getting your card within 2 weeks of your interview. I didn't get that email until about 51 days after my interview.
