Thanks for your reply.

I'm curious because it is known for Filipinos how hard and complicated it is to apply even for a tourist visa . My sister will have to prove that she has lots of money in the bank or business ownership ( which she doesn't have) . I wonder if green card application is in process that she would not have to be asked for proof of assets and properties or money etch etch if she apply to come and visit.

It would be wonderful if she could come and see her niece and nephew after more than 10 years.

Depends on her circumstances.

Actually I'd think it's even more of a reason to request proof.

If you file a petition for her that demonstrates immigration intent. Although she will have to wait 20 years or so to get a visa to emigrate, the fact remains that she has indicated she wants to live in the USA. And that will go against her for her tourist visa application.

It won't be impossible to get a tourist visa but it will be difficult.

Is the wait time has gone up to 20 years? Last time I checked it was 12-15 years?

Hello everyone.

So it will take 12-15 years for the application to get approve if I petition my sister but she can come and visit?

How hard is it to get my sister a visitor's visa once her petition for green card has been filed?

Thank you.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought your sister was already here on a visitor visa.

Ok, I see that you are not the OP. Sorry.

The wait is because the sibling class is at the bottom of the list and only get the visas leftovers. If the laws do not change to leftover pile will be smaller all the time and the wait could actually end up being doubled or more

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I can see that category being phased out completely. I don't know anywhere else that lets you emigrate there purely on the basis that your sister married someone there.

I can see it being phased out also even though it is speculation. I can also see petitioning parents being at risk of being phased out. If not, then the parent petition will be at the bottom of the list and take years to be approved.

And I would have no problem with that. It should then make spouse petitions faster.

At the moment I have been waiting since February for the I-130 to be approved in Nebraska. The same service Centre has already approved I-130s for parents that were received after mine. I find it absolutely ridiculous that USCIS feels that grown adults need to have their parents with them faster than I need to be with my husband.
