If it gets to the point that your job is in jeopardy think carefully about going. It will be easier if you are there... but if you lose your job it will be hell. The interview is something that she can handle on her own if she needs to. I am in Paris right now on my way back to the States, she will be coming in about a month. She still needs her passport/visa. We will not book her flight until we get that. Then we will wait a little while for çheaper (non last minute) flights and for her to spend time with her family. My concern is for her to come alone and navigate customs/Airports alone. Some flights not only had layovers but change in airports. The flights that we found available as one way FROM Russia we very different than round trip from us - both in cost and in availability. Good luck

Oh wow STILL under administrative processing? I'm sorry! The wait must be annoying for both of you!

And of course, I am 23 and she is 25. And what about you? :)

Yes the wait is extremely annoying.. And I definitely advise you to be at the interview with your fiancée since you both are young too :) I'm 20 and my fiancé is 26

I've been struggling with the should I go or not too...I prefer to be there for my fiancé but getting time off is a huge problem. I have reached out to some people here on VJ and they all say Moscow is an easy embassy so it puts me more at ease. A fellow February filer is a couple weeks aheads of me and her fiancé can't be at the interview either. I plan on writing a letter stating why I'm not there and how I wish I could be (and probably getting it notarized) for him to take to the interview. Shoot they can even FaceTime with me if they want haha.

I'm 28 (the usc) and he's 34.

Lowens8- Honestly, as long as you have done your due diligence you should be fine not being there. You are really not needed or expected to be at the interview. It just shows you are for real.

Btw they really do not care how old you are as long as you prove that you are sincere and can prove your relationship. Dont worry, you will be fine.

MrMonk thank you for the encouraging words. We've really been stressing about it. We would be devastated if that was the reason for denial and having to start the whole process again.

They do care about how old you are. CO said that my fiancé is young and people don't usually get married at that age in US. Edited by anfisanava

MrMonk- Thank you, I definitely think that you're right there. especially given the fact that I will need that same job after she gets here and I will need that same income to get adjustment of status approved. Actually it's a bit more requirement if I remember correctly. I guess it seems that the proper thing to do is to wait until we know when the interview will be and then try to get the time approved off once more so that I can try to go and be there. That way at least I will have said that I tried. Because you're right. Loosing that job would make for a hellish situation once I got back. The lucky thing here is that Hawaii in general is short on workers, so the jobs here are plenty, and finding another one wouldn't be the problem, it would be finding similar pay that would prove to be difficult. Although I will admit, I've been looking for an excuse to leave this job, only thing holding me there really is the money. :/ Especially now.

Anfisanava- I do agree with you as well. Here in the US it's legal to get married at 18, however people usually don't start getting married until they are in their mid 20's. And given that we are young I would absolutely like to be there at the interview with her. I know that it would help her to feel much more comfortable about it all.

It seems that everyone can agree that the petitioners presence at the interview is definitely a huge positive. And I really do believe that it probably makes a huge statement to the officer that will approve the visa. My fiancee and I have only met once in person, which worries me a little bit from a document stand point, however, we supplied what is in my opinion more than enough supporting evidence of our relationship and meeting in person. But here is my other thought too, having both parties present at the interview will also probably help to solidify you're financial stability as well, thoughts on that?

Getting on to finances here too, I've read a lot of reviews on Moscow saying that the officer didn't even look at that aspect, but also I've read some too that state the exact opposite. What were your guys' experiences?

Your age really is not an issue unless it causes then to believe that your relationship is fraud. So if you are really young (let's say under 20) or if you have a huge age gap between you two. But they will not deny your application because you are 23 and not at the interview. Just make sure you know plenty about your SO and that you have lots of proof of your relationship.

I personally see plenty of people in their early to mid 20s getting married. Quite a few people are married by age 27 so if 23 is suspect that does not leave much of a open window there. No problems with age, really.

You being at the interview will help definitely! It's just not a necessity. Personally I would try to make the time of work with your job, but if it is not possible, I would stick it out. Personally I would like to see that the two of you meet in person more than once, but I guess I am not working on your case. Our interviewer seemed very pleased that I made 3 trips totaling 2 months together in Russia (it helps that I am very flexible on time off).

As for finances our interviewer asked nothing of finances. Granted she did not ask much. I supplied my w2, job letter, last 2 ck stubs, bank letters. No one said a word about it. Granted I did not need a co sponsor so that can possibly change things.

I had a great flight back...But as of now I have still not gotten used to my regular time zone (hence why I am awake in the middle of the night). however on a positive note we got our visa in the mail 2 days ago and purchased her flight "home" :-) :-) :-)

Good luck! We provided more than enough docs and I don't think they were all needed, but on the other hand everything went great so I guess I would not change anything and we did it perfectly.

They won't ask about finances as it is a black and white issue. There are clear rules as to what the finances must be. Either you supplied proof of enough finances and then they don't need to ask anything about it, or you didn't supply proof of enough finances and then they cannot legally issue the visa no matter what relationship evidence you have (they might conditionally approve it in that case and tell you to send them more financial info within a certain timeframe). You cannot orally prove your finances without documents, so there is nothing to ask about.

Anfisanava -- Did you guys ever get your visa?? :alien:

vbtwo and Mrmonk -- Thank you guys I have been a little worried about all the financial stuff, I think I will be fine in that aspect. I have my letter from my employer stating that I make well over the 125% and 150% or what ever the percentage is (I just remember what numbers I need to exceed, not so much the nitty gritty bits) and on top of that I own my car and motorcycle and can show the titles and the KBB value of the two, so I'm pretty confident about that. It's only August and I've already made more than the smaller of the two numbers. My concern though is that I have not been at my job that long, only since January, but I was planning on supplying a letter maybe also explaining that I permanently moved here on December 16th, and I was hired for my job here before the start of the new year even. My letter states that I'm in good standing too which I think should hopefully help. So I'm a little worried about them thinking that's unstable, but I will show my IRS transcripts for the last 3 years too showing I've obviously been working the whole time and have had an income.

Also MrMonk, congrats!!!! I hope that you guys are doing well!!!!!

Just today I got the NOA2, only took 94 days. :D Anyways, I was wondering if you could maybe fill me in a bit on what to expect after the noa2, I know it goes to the NVC and all, but my fiance is especially unclear about the next steps, it seems that there have been a lot of changes to everything in the past few years from what I've been reading, and she is reading completely different things than I'm reading. Will the embassy be contacting her by mail and still be mailing a packet? Really just a walk through of your experience would be so wonderful since yours is so current and I know that I can trust the information. Of course I understand the basic flow of how everything will work, just the little details and it's nice to kind of know what to expect. :alien: (sorry, aliens are my thing):alien:
