"Proper" Filing/Sending of the K-1 Application

Hello,

I'm guessing these questions are for those who mailed their application this way. My questions are...

1) What kind of envelope/folder did you use? Manila folder or something else? I definitely want to put it in something where it won't get bend easily.

2) What kind of tabs (is normal sticky one ok?) did you use?

3) Did you punch holes on the applications? 2-hole punch? Did you use fasteners? I read somewhere here that ACCU fasteners is recommended.

I know that these are not completely necessary, but I just want to make sure that whomever is going to read our file/application will not have a hard time going back and forth when looking at our stuff because I want everything to go well. I'm not sure if the person will like everything neatly filed before reading or not so I just want to play it safe. Personally, I would want everything to be neatly filed before reading the application.

What is your recommendation(s)? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

In my case, since I work in the legal industry... I followed their guidelines just because it does make it easier for them to put together your case file.

I used a FedEx envelope since I sent it overnight thru them and didn't put my packet in any other folder inside the envelope. I did bind my packet using acco fastners with the two-hole punch at the top. I also used bottom tab dividers to divide my packet into sections which corresponded to the table of contents.

Someone linked the assembly instructions above... so you should follow those. Here's what I did, though:

1. I used the USPS Priority Mail envelope, nothing else

2. No tabs, just paper clips at the top clearly joining/separating pages

3. I punched holes at the top, but didn't use an ACCO fastener... I went to buy some and I could only purchase 50 for about $8...and didn't want to wait for it to be shipped. So I took a jumbo paper clip, unbent it and reshaped it so the 2 ends went vertical through the punched holes, then folded the ends over the top. see pic (ignore the bad holepunching on the first page :P):
