interesting. i've never thought about a father taking his daughter into a men's room. any dad's here actually do this? what age did you stop?

I have no kid.

But I always go to washroom by myself as a kid, or follow Mommy :)

huh. weird. what's the difference from a six to seven year old that enables them to face public restrooms alone?

I assume this was from a pre time when gender mattered.

From memory it was more a practical issue, when you could do it without help.

Family rooms exist? Been in a lot of public restrooms but, have never seen those but in select situations.

My husband has seen men bring daughters into the men's room before, and I've seen men bring daughter's into the ladies room. There is never a shortage of women bringing boys into the women's rooms/dressing rooms. No problem with me, it's just when those boys start peering under the doors. Never personally seen any signage regarding the age of the child that should be entering either, some of these boys with their mom's have even been probably around 10-12 years of age. Sometimes they will even get into the stall with them.

We could just go back to the pre-1880s when everyone went to the 'men's room' or ladies didn't go at all because they are delicate and have magical bladder holding powers.

There is a family room in my gym.

I have seen family room in airports, Mall of America, some shopping malls here.

How should the men react if there is a little girl in the men's room watching you pee in the urinal? :content:

*shrugs* Do away with urinals and then no one can watch? ;-)

Nope. Can't say I've seen one of those. If they exist, they must be out of the way, since those mom's with boys never seem to use them.

I guess it is ok for mom to bring her young son to women's washroom, since there is cubicle for privacy.

But if it is locker room for changing or showering, I would be uncomfortable with older boy (7 or 8 years old above) in the same room.

I feel like they are old enough to know what they are looking at, so their parents should taking them to family room.

Why not? It would save money and since there is no problem with men in Ladies locker rooms.
