We filed my I-751 in September 2015 and just received an Request for Evidence, claiming we failed to show enough evidence for joint financial responsibility.

We did submit a tax transcript for 2014, but since my husband and I are both self-employed (we own a small business), we do not have any W2s for our work. Now the RFE letter claims our tax returns are insufficient because we did not submit W2s alongside with it.

So I was wondering if it would be sufficient to submit 1099-Ks and 1099MISC for 2014 and 2015.
My husband has individual W2s for 2015 and 2014, since he took on some contract work. Would it help to include them as well?

Is there any other documentation I can include to help my case?

Thank you!

Suggest that you include any, and all W-2s and Form 1099s to show income.

We are also Sept CSC filers and I received the exact same RFE yesterday too! Submit anything and everything you have to prove income.

This part is a little confusing: did you submit tax transcripts (that you can get from the IRS) or tax returns (the stuff you send the IRS)? I'm asking because generally you don't need W2s etc. if you're submitting tax transcripts as opposed to the tax returns.

We submitted transcripts, which we requested from the IRS. Not returns.

I thought it would suffice too, so I was surprised to get an RFE.

Just get official tax return transcripts for the past 3 years, send that in and you'll be fine. It supersedes W2, 1099s and etc. I sent in tax return transcripts for 2012, 2013 and 2014 and everything was alright (No RFE)

Lucybelle, have you filed 2015 yet or are you doing an extension?

If you don't have a transcript for 2015, send in your complete tax return, plus all 1099s and W-2s. W-2s report income earned as wages. 1099s report income earned as interest or dividends. They want to know how much money you earn - and the W-2s and 1099s (or K-1s if you have a partnership) are what prove it.

If you have filed an extension, send in a copy of the extension form you filed, plus all 1099s and W-2s. Again...you need to PROVE your income.

I got my 2015 tax transcript in 5 days, by the way.

I've already filed my 2015 taxes, I guess I didn't think about just requesting the transcript. Just did that and hopefully it'll be here before the week is over! Thanks!

I didn't send my W2s and that is one of the things they requested when I got a RFE.

I filed my 2015 taxes this weekend, and it says that the transcrips should be available in 2-3 weeks.. does it really take that long? I was planning to send the 2015 transcript with my RFE but can'e wait almost a month.
