OK so our case got started March 24. My fiance is very worried. And so am I.. He tells me of how Ghana Embassy consulate is. That they are very harsh on people. Because there are alot of fraud. He's thinking about having both our mom's do affidavits saying they agree to our marriage .although we are of age... he also mentioned about me being on his bank account when I go back to visit him there .. Does that matter? Do we need these?idk..I really do know what else we need. We sent lots. 1000pages whatsapp chat logs... 100+pictures with writing on all backs of them stating what and we're we are.. when I visited... 100+ pictures of receipts for venues and other places we went to in Ghana... And my passport and boarding passes.... Hmmmmm.. Well we must have at least Done something OK since it got accepted.... But we are still worried... Is there anything other things we need for interview? I just don't know.... It maybe a ways off.. But we are trying to prepare for anything... I would love ur thoughts..

The best evidence is time spent together- how often have you visited, and for how long?

Are there any red flags, such as large age or educational differences, recent divorce, has he applied for a visa before?

Since the embassy is tough as you mentioned, I suggest that you be at the interview with your fiance...It is a message that your are here and you care in supporting your fiance. A message that might or not resonate in the mind of the CO.

Be 100% sure you have all documents, originals with copies, everything they requested...You don't need to give the CO any chance of telling you that something is missing and that will just delay your case.

Joint bank account is not usually required until married / but if you can be added to his account in name only, then add yourself / remember this is a high fraud country and giving out personal ID information is scary / they steal ID's, passports, etc.

Some countries do not allow you in for the interview but will ask if you are there / weather you are allowed in depends on the space and embassy / i could not go into the Moroccan embassy for interview

Tell financee to be completely serious for interview / they consider it serious business / not even a smile

be confident and know all he can about you / i mean everything

it would have been better to have married / also some CO's consider the engagement photos as proof of marriage so he must be able to prove you are engaged not married

Even if they don't allow it, it would be good to mention to the CO he is with me and waiting somewhere outside.

Yes I agree with what you're saying. Let them know, and tell them he came in case there's questions they may want to ask him personally. That's a good way to let them know you are both serious about this process.

My fiancé is also in ghana! He soon will have to do his interview with them! I have read that ghana won't allow spouses to the interview but for k1 it is different! I'm back and forth with this decision but overall I feel I must go to ghana even if they don't allow me to enter. I was told the fiancé can be at the interview but we will need to schedule am appointment for the petitioner to be there with the fiancé! Its so confusing. I even sent an email to the ghana embassy to get more info but I am still waiting to hear back from them. If you know the answer please let me know! And I wish you luck.

I was in Ghana on April 4 ; went for a week to be at the interview and was not allowed in. I've been told the way around that is to set an appointment for the same day and time and hope that works .

I did the appointment once through US embassy website asking for interview. I think it's better what I read somewhere online, the petitioner, American citizen, writes a letter to consulate (can be by email too) asking to be present during the fiance(e) interview. The people online was saying, asking in writing they can't deny an American citizen. Please, try and tell us if it worked.

Good luck, Tasha

Thanks for the information! I think what I am going to do is email the ghana embassy and go to my consulate here in my home state of Utah and see if they can write me a letter or anything! My fiancé is also investigating and when he goes to pick up his packet he will ask the consulate in ghana! Let's hope something works because I am sure there are many more after me who wants to attend but can't ! Let's hope if someone knows of a better way that they will post it and let the rest of us know. Thanks so much everyone for responding and good luck.
