HI guys,

Just a quick question for those going through the London Embassy. I have an appointment at Knightsbridge next week for my medical appointment. I have recently changed GP's and i'm struggling to get a full medical history from them as they are trying to make me travel the length of the country to my old GP to get it, ridiculous I know, and I may not be able to get it in time without travelling that distance. It says on the letter from the embassy that I only need a medical history if I have any 'serious conditions etc.' I am completely fit and healthy, with nothing major aside from 2 minor common surgeries, I was circumcised as a child & broke my arm at age 10 and it was corrected, aside from that I have absolutely no issues whatsoever. Do they constitute needing my full medical record?

Thanks guys

They never need your actual records, nor can they access them on their own. If you had a condition to report like heart disease, or asthma, or depression, they would want your doctor to write a short summary of your condition. They do not want photocopies of your medical files. Sounds like you have nothing to report and only need something to show what immunizations you have had.

TIP: get every shot needed before going to the visa exam, or pay for it at the exam. It will save you money by not having to find a civil surgeon and pay him to sign off again. The nurse at Knightsbridge will tell you that you can go get them later at your GP. True, but she doesn't understand if they aren't ALL signed off at your visa exam, you will pay again in the US to have a civil surgeon add any shots you got after your visa exam. Many insist you have to do a new complete exam, blood work, etc. $$$

What Nich-Nick said. I had my medical on Friday, they take your documents from you (police report etc) and hand you a form to complete which asks all about the kinds of medical things like heart problems, asthma, kidney or liver disease and that kind of thing. You only need to take a letter from your GP to back up any severe illnesses or drug/alcohol abuse or self harm issues, anything that would be a red flag for them. If you are fit and healthy and haven't had any major surgery or illnesses then you need not worry about taking anything in from your GP.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

Unless your bone breakage resulted in major reconstructive surgery, deformity, or large scars I don't think Knightsbridge really cares about it. They still don't need medical records for anything like that though. My husband got his GP to write a simple statement saying ''Patient X received reconstructive surgery to his hand due to severe injury on X date etc etc etc'' The doctor at Knightsbridge did take the note, examined his hand and asked a few questions relating to the functionality of his hand.

Otherwise, get your shots and you're good to go I would think. ;)
