K1 Interview

Hi guys!

I posted a couple days about this but My fiancee and I have been approved for my K1 visa on March 10th 2016. I called the US embassy in my country about a month ago (a week after the approval) to ask about what I need to get together for the interview (their website is not up-to-date or reliable the lady told me this herself on the phone). She told me that she should have my package in another 2-3 weeks and she will call or email me with instructions when she does. It wasn't until after we hung up that I realized that I don't think she has my email address or phone number. I don't remember ever filling those out on any of the forms that my fiancee and I filled out, unless shes going to email my fiancee and not me?

Another thing is she said that she should have my package in 2-3 weeks, but its been about 4 weeks and I still have not heard back. My fiancee tends to be a worry-wart (me too but not as much as her lol) and she keeps telling me not to call them and bother them because we don't want them thinking we're annoying, but I'm starting to get very nervous that it is taking so long. My fiance wants to go to Med school in August and I want to be with her for as long as I can before she goes to school (i'll have to get a job to keep up her(soon to be our) apartment)) Not to mention that when we got approved, we did not anticipate this wait time and started planning the wedding for the weekend of the 4th of July because that's when all of her family can make it. Is anybody else familiar with this long wait time between NOA2 and the actual interview?

Also, another question I have seen somebody post on here saying that they had to bring in a check for $265 to the interview to pay for the visa, but my fiancee already paid $340 when she turned in all the original forms. Is this another fee that we will have to pay?

I don't think there's anything wrong if you call and ask... it could serve as a "friendly reminder" even. If I remember correctly, the original I-129F application form did ask for an email and phone number from you, as the petitioner.

As far as the fees, yes, there are MANY more fees than just the $340 filing fee. That was just to have your paperwork filed. Then comes the $265 Visa application fee and the biometrics/medical fee.

I hope you researched a bit ahead also because once you get married within the 90days and apply for AOS, you then pay a little over $1,000 with the AOS filing.

Once NVC assigns a case number the beneficiary completes the DS160 and can give contact info at that time. Read up in your country portal and embassy info and how your consulate handles the process.

Have you tried calling NVC for your case number? Then you can also track your case online and book her medical. (You also have to pay for that one)
