1. Theologically if attending a Christian or Jewish funeral Muslims would still be praying to the same God. The big 3 wordhip the same God, they just take different paths after Abraham.

1. I am thinking of it this way -> According to islam, there is no other valid religion. So if religion x says that by attending the funeral you are defacto praying to diety x, its not a problem for a muslim because according to islam, religion x is invalid and therefore its defacto assumption of prayer is also invalid.

In islam, intent is very important. If you attend a funeral with the intent to offer condolences and not to participate in other religions prayers and do exactly that, then it should be fine.

Thanks for every one's responses who were genuine. We went to his mosque and spoke with an Imam and told him it was fine to go. We went and payed our respects to my Great Aunt and the rest of my family. My husband was rather happy he could go. :luv:
