Hello, me and my fiance Matt have chosen to do the k-1 visa option. I'm from the UK and he is from Georgia, we wondered if anyone could give us advice that have successfully gone through the process themselves and give advice on how much we would need evidence wise (more the better or keeping it minimal) to include in our package to send off when we file for the visa. We would appreciate any help you guys can give us as we are both nervous about the process and not 100% sure on a lot of things.

You'll be pleased to learn that the London embassy might be the easiest to go through for a K1 applicant. Check it out on the regional forum for specifics :-) You definitely do not need to frontload the application :-)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

9/24/15: I129f sent

9/30/15: NOA1

11/2/15: NOA2

Delayed processing due to work

3/15/16: Medical

4/28/16: Interview (approved)

Delayed entry due to work

8/12/16: POE Detroit

 

9/4/16: Wedding!

9/9/16: I485/I131/I765 sent

9/14/16: Received 3xNOAs by text/e-mail (day 2)

9/14-18/16: Received 3xpaper NOAs 

9/23/16: Received biometrics appointment letter (day 11)

11/4/16: EAD+AP approved (day 53)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Why are you using RapidVisa?

Not all passports has a book number, Norwegians do not. I'm sure a Google search can tell if/where to find it in your UK passport

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

The passport book number is the passport number. Some people ever to a passport as a passport book. It's the same thing. It's the number top right on the picture page.

I also wonder why you are using Rapid Visa.

Can someone tll me what the problem is with RapidvIsa?

Me and my fiance have had no help from anyone regarding our visa and I found the site, looked in to it more then we talked about getting started on the K-1 through them since they are available to help all the way through the process.

Agreed. Halfway through the K1 process and its straightforward and easy to run with. I found the guides here half way through but the main forms are easy enough to fill in without having to pay someone like RapidVisa $400 to fill them in. All they can actually do is fill in forms and mail them. The rest of the process is with USCIS and the embassy in London. The petition form is just personal info you already know and theres loads of people here to help with specific questions regarding the rest of it:)

No problem with them. But I just wondered why you are paying someone to fill out forms for you. Presumably you both speak English fluently. I can see why people with limited English might use them. But other than that, I see no point to it. Many people get through the procedure just fine without them. Ask any questions you want here. There are hundreds who have gone through or are going through it and they are more than happy to help and won't charge you a penny.

We are doing a CR-1 which is an even more compex visa than a K-1 and have not needed to pay anyone, we have found all the help we need here. It's a great resource.

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath
