in Canada the only difference between long and short is the parents names.

Not true for Ontario. I don't know all the details of other provinces but the differences between long and short in Ontario goes far beyond jus the names of the parents. The long form in Ontario shows everything including the baby's weight, doctor's name, hospital name, parents' names, length of pregnancy, how many other babies the mother has had.

The Ontario one is big, it's a photostatic copy of the actual birth certificate that was filled out at the hospital on special paper with a government seal on it. Even had the doctors bad handwriting and spelling mistakes and cross outs. :oops:

It was actually really neat to get mine from when I was born. My mom's handwriting is exactly the same 40+ years later. Kinda cool to see how she wrote it all so carefully and signed it.

that is really cool!!! i wish i could get a copy of that here haha i was pretty up happy to find out that i needed mine and my children... so x4... on top of the ones we just got. so thats 8 ... and the only difference is parents names. you are lucky, that would have been worth the extra money to see!

In BC i think it was barely more for the long form. But it cost me twice as much as the certificate to get it express mailed when I needed a new passport after marriage.

We need to order our long form. Anybody knows the delay time if we dont have info on who the doctor was or the address my parents was at when i was born? When filling it out they said there could be a delay. Need it by next month :/ interview is on may 28th

I'd still put a rush/priority on it if there is a paid option to do so.

I know I had my parents address missing and had no idea on the Doctor.. heck the Hospital I was born in doesn't even exist any more and I got mine in about 2 weeks.
