This is my first time posting on VJ, I wish i knew about it when i was going through the process.

A little background of our story, I have been living in Germany for 5 years now and i met my wife here who is a U.S Soldier. We got married last year and we applied for the green card in Frankfurt. I must say, reading from all threads on this forum, applying for a green card in Frankfurt was a piece of cake, either that or we gave them plenty of evidence of our marriage. We are both the joint owners of cars, houses, bills, i am on her Army insurance, she is on my German insurance etc etc. We also provided tons of pictures starting from the day we met,We are both working too.The only thing that cost us alot was the translation(from German to English which cost us around 300Euros).

Fast forward to the day of the interview, there were only 3 couples there. 2 soldiers and 1 civilian. The lady who was taking interview asked me only one question. Name of my wife's father. And then she asked me to email her the 1040 for the year 2015 for my wife(I already provided my German income tax return).

One day after the interview, I got a notification saying my visa has been issued and today the passport is on its way.

Now i have a couple of questions, and i hope someone will be able to answer me.

- I did my medical in December 2015 and the lady said that either i have to make an entry in the U.S before June 2016 or ill have to go for another medical. will that change anything if we cant get days off because of our work?

- Since we are stationed here and my wife has the orders from the U.S army stating her presence in Germany, will that also count as my time in the U.S ? sorry i know its probably a dumb question but someone said something about it and i wanna confirm.

Thank you all,

First: Congratulations!

You could go on your own if you get time off from your employer, your wife does not have to accompany you when you enter the US on your visa to get the Green Card (but you would have to make sure the GC gets to you...). How long will she be here (Germany)?

Hello,

Thank you for replying. She will be here atleast one more year. We have given address of our very good family friend in states, he will receive my green card for me. Can i enter the U.S first time without my wife? i was told that for the first time, we both have to go together.

Thank you for your time.

Your time here counts towards your GC time since she is stationed here. Not sure how to actually receive the GC maybe they can send it to the APO?

You might want to ask on post at the legal office, I m sure they have those cases all the time. Don't think you ll be required to enter the US since for example (correct me if I m wrong?) being on post is technically being on US territory.
