I'll take try again for 1000 please. He dint have the power to implement systematic racism. Black people have nothing that others want and we are holding them back from getting

There is still systematic racism in the US regardless of Obama being President.

If I were to take a snap shot of our country right now I would come to the following conclusions:

1. There are very few racists left in the US. Most of them have no power.

2. There are bigots in the US, they have power and they see the higher criminal activity of black people and act with prejudice towards everyone as a result. Obviously this is wrong and its driven by socioeconomics not race.

3. The systematic racism are rooted in the policies dating back to the 1980s in terms of drugs and the 1960s/50s in terms of laws that that left people in their socioeconomic quagmire.

It is possible to have a country devoid of racists and still have systematic racism. I think we are getting closer to the former, but removing the latter could take another century.

Hillary thought otherwise.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It's very childish and historically incompetent, this notion that racism is only injurious or meaningful when practiced by a group substantially in power of the economy and population. Tons of race-based violence and murder in history perpetrated by combative groups regardless of who was in power.

This inaccurate understanding of what racism is (notice no silly talk about systems or government or other such tripe: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/racism)continues to be used by racists such as stay sore and ethug to excuse their own abhorrent views on white people as immaterial because they are not part of the majority class. Everyone knows it, too.

Actually, it's childish and very incompetent trying to claim that being called white boy is in the same classroom as systematically being discriminated against, police brutality, and all the other obstacles minorites face in the us. Unless you're going to tell me that 13% of the population has you shook when you're 70% plus strong, have more guns, and are basically in a much better position if a race based war broke out(which we all know it won't.)

Neither I or Val have abhorrent views against ANY race or group of people. Too bad you can't say the same thing.

Reverse racism does not exist. Cause racism is racism regardless.

Sorry, but it's really not.

Yes the OP attempts to redefine what racism is to fit their argument.

Here is the third paragraph:

Racism and prejudice aren't quite the same thing. Racism, rather, is best known as a system in which a racial majority is able to enforce its power and privilege over another race through political, economic and institutional means. Therefore racism can be described as "prejudice plus power," as the two work together to create the system of inequality.

It is perhaps an effect of Racism, but its not specifically racism. So now you've inserted this redefinition, everything after this paragraph hinges on the above statement. If the redefinition of racism isn't valid then the argument is no longer valid.

Discrimination is born out of racism. You can't discriminate if you're not in power. Simple. You can say bad things, you can commit violence, but you can't control what the majority does or does not do. That's why no one here will ever be able to answer the question myself or Janelle have asked for repeatedly. We can't keep you out of places you want to be in. We can't tell you what you can or can't do. But the same can't be said for the majority.

Black people do not own anything of enough substance to determine who gets in or who can be kept out.

1. Not true. Look at the GOP front runner. Trump's entire platform was built on racist remarks towards Mexicans. His name has literally become a racial taut that used towards Black people, Hispanic People, and Muslims. And he's running for president of the United States.

2. Once again, folks love to ignore any crime that's committed by white people. Not you per say, but according to the FBI crime chart, out of 30 categories, black people lead in 3 of them. The rest are led by white people. Don't know why this is constantly overlooked.

3. I agree that the laws from back then are still affecting folks right now. But this whole thing about a country devoid of racists is just plain wrong. The issue is, because the KKK isn't dragging us down the street and burning crosses on our lawns, it's like that's the only manifestation of racism people think exist. Anything less than this, and it can't possibly be racism.

So Mexicans are a single race, just like Americans.

Exactly. Thank you for further pointing out why power isn't a part of racism

My point was that there are many bigots left (Trump included) but out right racism - the notion that one race is superior to another is in fact dying out. I want to be crystal clear on this point as its an important distinction when discussing race in America today. You fight bigotry in a different way to racism.
