Hi all,

I'm filling i-864 for my wife. As i spend 9months oversea so my income for 2015 isn't enough to sponsored, so my step father will be a joint sponsor. So far household size is 3, correct? However, our 9 months old daughter live with her mom which is my wife oversea, would she be count towards household size too? thank you for your time.

Your step-dad's household size would depend on his circumstances, not yours. So him, your mom, any other dependents, plus your immigrant wife. Assuming your baby is a US citizen, she does not count.

If you now have a good job, and can prove this with paystubs and a letter from the employer, you may not need a co-sponsor.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

First of all, thanks for taking time to reply me penguin. I forgot to included that we live in a same residence, so he's gonna file a form i-864a. Yes, my daughter is a us citizen by birth. I am working 2 jobs now, and only make about $2500 a month. Is it good enough to not have a co-sponsor?

And also, on form i-864, part5, no.4 is to list any dependent children. If my daughter is a us citizen, and i don't count her on household size? How can we file that part?

You need to count her for your own household size; your step dad likely does not. Living in the same house does not mean being the same household for financial purposes; similar to room mates, unless you are financially tied (he claimed you as a dependent on his tax returns etc), you are NOT the same household for financial/ tax/ immigration purposes.

If you make $2500 a month, that is about 30'000 a year and would be enough for a household of three (you, the baby and your immigrant wife).
