Health insurance for foreign visitors in USA???

My wife is bringing her parents from Russia in August for visitation purposes for approximately 3 months. They're both 51 years and are pretty healthy. I am a little concerned since they do not have health coverage here in the USA. I've never dealt with this stuff, so I was wondering if there is some sort of coverage we can purchase for them just in case something for god's sake happen. I really would hate be stuck with the bill, especially if it can be avoided. If anyone can refer me to any agency or website that I can get more information and learn how to purchase an insurance plan. The assistance is much appreciated in advance.

Regards.

hi

she cannot bring her parents, if they don't have a tourist visa yet, then they must apply on their own

they should check on traveler's insurance

Before living in the USA, I would get travel insurance, different companies; note that coverage usually excludes pre-existing conditions and is intended for emergency care, not just regular medical exams.

Recently saw this ad, but no personal experience with them.

Normally flight companies (which one they will be flying) probably have it and most of times offer it... Check this out ;)

Hello,

They already both have received their visas and have been cleared to enter the USA.

thx for the reply.

You can purchase insurance for them here or they can look into purchasing their own in Russia. The plans my inlaws looked at in Russia were dubious as to how the payment would be made or reimbursed so we always purchased here for them. Which ever you choose, purchase it before the travel begins and read all the fine print. Be aware that travel and visitors health insurance has either no or very limited coverage for issues relating to preexisting conditions.

What are her parents proposing to do?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

thx for the reply.

Hate to nitpick.. but they haven't been cleared to enter the US.. yet. That would happen at POE. A visa allows them to ask for permission to enter the US.

Insu buy - remove the space between the words and Google. You should get the first link to their website. They offer variety of insurance options ranging from just travel/visitor to comprehensive coverage (related to preexisting conditions). I usually purchase to include a day before and day after the travels just to provide coverage sufficient in the event of flight delays etc.

"A visa is a conditional authorization granted by a country to enter and temporarily remain within, or to leave that country."

It would be easier if some member/s just answer the questions asked and be useful in providing information requested.

There is a difference between travel insurance and a difference between medical insurance specially marketed toward temporary immigrant visitors. Any of these, should be investigated by the OP to see what options work for them. Keep in mind though, the level of coverage involving pre-existing conditions, being accepted by a doctor when you need it, and them actually paying out are all things to be considered carefully. Nevertheless, take a google around. Pay careful attention to reviews.

I used VisitorsCoverage for my parents back in September, 2015.

I paid two weeks before my parents' arrival. All insurance paperwork was e-mailed to me. Actual cards arrived within a week after payment.

We buy insurance through the airlines. The fee is percentage base of the flight cost. It covers more than health issues and is not that expensive. Go to the airlines web page and do a search for travel insurance

Are you trying to say that a B2 visa guarantees entry into the US? Because that is wrong.

And this is a public forum if people want to reply to a specific (incorrect) part of what someone has posted to correct them instead of just answering their question then they can do that.
