Did anyone rescheduled their appointment lately? How was the process? How far were you pushed back? How painful was it?

We'll be in Florida visiting the very sick father in law with the baby on the way back from Germany. Tickets were bought long ago. I honestly didn't expect to hear from them before the end of May. Worst case, I could just get off the 10h flight from Germany and get on another plane with the baby the day before the interview in Miami but I would be a zombie by then and without husband to help.

I'd rather reschedule if it doesn't throw me back more than like 3 months.

I'd rather reschedule if it doesn't throw me back more than like 3 months.

Use the search tool in the upper right corner to search for posts about rescheduling.

From what I've read, I get the impression that the majority of applicants who reschedule don't have problems and get a new interview date within 1-3 months of the original date.

There are some applicants (not a negligible number) who do have problems. These include:

- USCIS doesn't process the request and the applicant gets a letter asking him/her to explain why the interview was missed

- USCIS reschedules the interview, but the new time is only a few days after the first appointment (before the applicant returns from a trip)

- It takes several months (4 or more) to get a new interview

It seems that these problems were more common a few years ago, but they still happen. So if you need to become a citizen soon, fly back for your interview. If you don't mind a potential delay of a few months, then reschedule it. You'll just need to return your interview letter with an explanation.

thank you!

I did some searching and found a good thread. I just wanted to see if someone did it this year ( since the way USCIS handles things sometimes change from year to year).

This sounds all good. Even if they reschedule just a few days later it be still okay.

I'm going to send the letter before noon and hopefully will get info that they received it before I leave.
