Hi all,

I'm incredibly scared for my medical and my partner and I haven't even sent off our papers yet for the I-129f.

When I was 14 (yes, 14), I had an absolutely disgusting childhood and ended up hospitalising myself by drinking too much at a friend's older sisters house party. I was taken to a&e. They found marijuana in my system also.

At the same age I was arrested. I was basically out roaming the streets of London very drunk and was put in a cell overnight for my own safety. I wasn't charged for anything and it was not criminal, I was just underage and drunk.

Fast forward to 2011 and again I find myself in hospital for drinking too much.

I am almost positive I am going to fail my medical even though this was 5 years ago, and then previously in 2003.

Can anyone give me some comprehensive advice to put my mind at ease? I have been on some medication for anxiety and also attending CBT and am a different person now. I put myself through college and university after leaving home at 16, and have held down my current job for 4 years.

I am terrified my horrible past and teenage/child behaviour is going to be a cause for me failing my medical.

Well firstly you will need to obtain letters from all medical professionals you are under stating that you are no longer a risk to yourself nor do you have any ongoing issues.

All I can go off is what other members have posted but I'm sure other members will be able to help advise you better.

But for sure your past actions will affect you in for sure delaying your process. In saying that everything is dealt with case by case and situation by situation. No one can tell you if you will get a green light or not.

I wouldn't stress too much about it as there's not much you can do except gather medical letters to show you arnt at risk to yourself and you have no ongoing issues.

Alcohol abuse from 2011 will not show up on an exam.

I am glad you are getting medication and CBT, and it is helping.

You will mention you are on anxiety meds and CBT on the medical exam form. Prior medical history may be collected and be truthful.

Thread is moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves the medical phase.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks for the responses.

I was under the impression they could check back through my medical records and hospital records? It will show I was admitted in 2003 and 2011 from alcohol poisoning...

The form does contain columns for medical history. Do not hide it if they ask you for this history. If you do, and they get access to your records and they found out, then it might be a problem.

Since you havent been abusing any substances lately, or so I presume, you should be fine. The anxiety meds and CBT show that you are committed to therapy.
