Sales Tax/Value Added Tax refund for parents visiting US?

Hey guys, my parents(tourists) will be visiting the States soon. We will be travelling around US. I am wondering if US has similar scheme like in Singapore or some countries where tourists can get sales/value added tax refunds at the airport?

They will be visiting some places like New York, New Jersey, Nevada, California, Florida and Georgia where I'm at.

Does anyone know if such scheme exists? If yes, how do we go about getting refund?

I don't remember where I read it but there short answer is, no, it doesn't exist in the U.S. based on the fact that sales taxes are levied on the state level. If such a refund is possible, they would have to seek it on a state-by-state basis.
