Well that was easy

Today I went into the California SSN office (had to go to Redwood City as the Mountain View office was temporarily closed, make sure to check online before you travel!)

I got there at 10:30am and I walked out the door at 11:30am!

I filled out the form online and printed it out. I brought all sorts of other info (marriage licence, Canadian drivers licence, Canadian birth certificate, print out of my I94, the pages of the memo it's suggested to print off here, and my NOA1 +2) When I arrived a security guard checked my bag and asked me to make sure my phone was on silent. Then he directed me to an electronic kiosk which asked language, and purpose of visit then printed out my number.

Once my number was called the guy at the counter took my application, asked me for my zip code, typed in the info, and then looked at my passport (which had my K1 visa in it and a paper I94 stapled into it). He then printed out the info he typed in and handed it to me and asked that I check to make sure it was correct. He mistyped my street address, so he corrected it, printed out again. Asked me if all the info I provided was the truth to my knowledge (if I lied it would be perjury) I said yes, then he signed my receipt and told me to keep an eye on the post box. He said it says it would take 2 weeks, but I should expect it in a week at most. He said since I'm in an apartment that it would come faster.

All in all it was super easy, it actually took me longer to get to the place than it did to wait and process my paperwork.
