Tax Transcripts for i-751?

Hi Guys,

I need help with what tax papers to file with my i-751

Essentially, will using the IRS Tax Account Transcripts be enough? instead of the Tax Return Transcripts?

Our first year of marriage (my first time filing) was naively submitted and we have had to since make a lot of amendments to that year (2014) (Biggest amendment was that our addresses we different! however, we were living together and I have other evidence proving that)

(2015) is fine.

However, I feel there will be too many eyebrows raised if I request my 2014 return transcript with all of its discrepancies as it won't showcase the amendments. If I have to send it, how can I over come this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks

Why don't you send both? :)

No. I don't think you need to. The account transcript will show all the amendments, and the return transcript would show everything from your W-2s anyway.

When I got my RFE for i-751 it specifically asked me to send both W2s and the tax forms - "copies of your state and federal tax returns. Also include all required schedules, statements, and any attachments such as W-2 records." My guess is b/c your address is on W2s so it's additional evidence.

makes sense.

Hi, Thanks for your response, did you send in your w-2's with the transcripts?

many thanks

It will depend on what the individual adjudicator wants. I belong to the approved without using IRS transcripts category. When I compiled my package last year, I wasn't following visajourney and didn't even know what an IRS transcript was. So I used our HR Block returns, didn't include W2s with it either. I got approved without any RFE. Later on I learned what IRS transcripts are when I purchased our house last summer and used those in my naturalization package.

However I should say N400 instructions specifically use the term "IRS tax return transcripts" while I-751 instructions use the term "complete federal and state tax returns" hence leaving room to use thirtd-party HR Block/Turbo Tax returns.

Inconsistencies will always be there as long as the process in not transparent. One day you will see someone would say "I included .... and still got rfe", then another person would respond "I didn't even include that item and approved without any issue".
