I am on a F-1 visa ( OPT extension ). I finished a four year degree and then used my OPT in 2014, and then applied and got STEM extension OPT in 2015. I have an EAD that is valid until December 2016.
I got married to my boyfriend ( USC) in Feb 2016. I also just got accepted to a graduate school in USA.
My mom just found out that she has a brain tumor and she will have to undergo a surgery in the next few weeks. I almost have the application ready for AOS ready. My plan was to go into the nearest USCIS office, submit my application and apply for an emergency travel document at the office.
If I send my I-20 transfer request ( from my undergraduate school to my grad school ) now, before I have applied for AOS, but I am married, am I breaking any laws? Can they even transfer my I-20 to anther school now that I am married?
If I can transfer my I-20 now, do I have to wait a certain period of time before I apply for AOS?
Also, if enter the country back on advance parole document, what happens to my F-1 status?

I have gotten lots of advice and seems like general consensus is that I should keep on maintaining my F-1 status while I am in the process of applying for AOS. However, how do I do that if I need to transfer schools and enter back into the country?
