*ISSUE REGARDING MY DS260 IS FINALLY FIXED. :)

I just finished answering my DS260(found out that the problem is the internet connection :P )

what will be the next step after it?cause it says there the DS260 will be reviewed by nvc and then after that theyre gonna send a letter to my petitioner(my husband) regarding the schedule of my interview.is that right?

You did DCF right?

If yes, you can now set your interview appointment and medical.

so.. does that mean I can't use my married name yet in any legal transactions?

Not sure how to answer this... but in my experience, after I got married I made sure to have at least 2 government IDs (driver's license, Postal ID) in my married name so I can legally change my bank account's name, have no issues with CFO, and finally renew my passport using my husband's name. We then filed the I- 130 petition with my married (legal) name- it's more consistent this way.

What legal transactions are we talking about here? I believe so long as you can prove that it's your legal name, you can use your married name for sure. This can be in a form of an ID, government issued to be certain.

coz in my case.. we filed for the petition first before I could have my name on passport changed. I don't have any IDs with my married name on it. I had my PRC ID updated to have my married name on it but it wouldn't be released until July. My NBI clearance would be with my married name. I tried to sched to renew my passport at DFA just to have my name changed on it to use my married name, but the earliest sched available is July.. I already scheduled for the CFO seminar which would be May. But the thing is, our petition already got approved and we're now just waiting for the case number.... I just wonder if its gonna delay my visa process, if say, they ask me to have my passport changed to married name first..

CR1 Visa Process via DCF

@jannapalmer your petition won't get delayed just because your passport is in your maiden name, especially if the petition is in your maiden name as well. It's a matter of preference which name you go for, but like I said all documents such as your Green card, Visa, and Social security card will be the name written on your current and valid passport
