I was a complete doofus and forgot to move my car before the metered parking enforcement began. $40.00 I gotta pay :( The thing is, I am worried about this affecting me taking my oath ceremony. I've been approved and I'm just waiting for my oath letter; I know you have to disclose any kind of citation you get when you take the oath. Also, when I was interviewed I did disclose my speeding ticket(just 1) and 1 parking ticket I got.

My question to everyone here is(and forgive me if I'm acting paranoid or irrational), has anyone had any trouble at the USCIS oath ceremony for any kind of traffic/parking violations? I'm concerned the IO will turn me away for having a 2nd parking ticket :(

P.S. Jimmyhou it'd be greatly appreciated if you could weigh in on this lol

The general consensus is that parking tickets don't count. Unlike speeding tickets, I've never read about an interviewer asking about parking tickets. However, if you want to be literal, a parking citation is a citation. I don't think you need to worry about it.

Want to be 100% sure? Pay your parking ticket and stuff the receipt into your pocket when you go to the ceremony. You can disclose it on the oath letter or just ask the officer when you're turning in your oath letter. You'll have proof it was taken care of in the off chance that they ask. This shouldn't cause any sort of delay.

Thanks a ton for the great info Jimmy, I can see why so many VJ'ers seek out your infallible advice :) I'll definitely take the receipt along with original and copy of the ticket, I'll let everyone know how it went at the oath :)

Actually I'm wrong quite often; but other members usually correct me when I am. Good luck!
