NAO2 and Beyond: What do you need?

So the guide for Montreal seems to be a bit out of date and from the comments there.. it looks like there's a few things I don't need to worry about anymore. However, not having a guide is kind of freaking me out! I know the basics, but I'd like to know the details and have someone reassure me that I know what we're supposed to be doing. Sorry about all the questions, I'm a natural at worrying and freaking out about things that are not known!

After the NAO2:
Do they email me the packet 3? Or send it snail mail? Should I wait for it or do I really have to call to get the case number from them?

Packet 3 is just a checklist that I can check off and then email right back to them, correct? Then they'll email me packet 4 and I can set up an interview?

Interview/Medical:
Once I schedule the interview, I can then schedule the medical. Is it okay to schedule it about a month before the interview? Or is it better to get it closer to the interview date? I'll be flying out to Vancouver for the Medical.

What all do you need for the interview paperwork? I know that we need everything that we sent before plus a new letter stating he'll marry me. But do I need the hardcopy of the NAO2 or can he email it to me? What other forms (online or otherwise) do we have to fill out for Canada? (I know about the financial ones, he'll need his tax stuff from last year and something from his boss, I believe?).

After POE:
What all should I be bringing with me, paperwork wise? We'll be getting married about a month and a half after my POE and I'll be living with my Mother in Orlando until then (Religious reasons). So besides getting health insurance what else should I be worrying about?

We were not mailed 3rd packet (checklist for interview) / it came in an email / it was checklist of what to take to interview

if you are healthy do the medical as close to interview as you have 6 months from that date to enter US

after i applied the only thing i got in the mail was the receipt from USCIS

just the tax stuff is required (sometimes they ask for last 3 years) / we do not have to have taxes for 2015 in till the 15th of April ( but if he has already done them like most of us , would be a good idea to have IRS copy / can get it from any IRS office)

not a bad idea to bring 2 original or certified copies of birth certificate, any transcripts from school or college, shot records (should be with medical exam), if you have a Canadian driving licence, you can drive 1 year in Florida on that,

Canadians will answer specificially about your embassy

Thanks! I'm loving that they switched to email for the packet 3 thing.. I kept reading from way earlier posts that they never received the packet 3 in the mail and wouldn't have known about it unless they phoned. Queue me freaking out, as I didn't really want to have to call!

I have one long form birth certificate, so I should be looking to get another official copy? And for the transcripts.. I haven't gone to school for a veeery long time (graduated from within the US too for highschool). Is this something that's needed and I should be getting?

Shot Records:

I had my Hepatitis B, MMR, and Tdap done this year. Is there anything else I should be looking into for the shots? I'm 100% terrified of needles so I usually have to be seriously drugged up to get them done. Getting them done at Vancouver would not be in the deck of cards for me. I don't think I'll need the flu shot as it won't be in season.

I only had regular photocopies of birth certificates etc....as far as I know Canadians don't need certified copies.

You need to have had chicken pox, or have had/get the vaccination for that (you can get at your family doctor/clinic).

Any original divorce decrees from both petitioner and beneficiary should be brought to interview along with newly signed letters of intent. The CO will need a photocopy of all your docs but they just look at the originals (zero need to get a certified copy to leave with them.)

Tax info is only for petitioner. If they dont make enough, Montréal accepts co- snd joint sponsors

Thank you for all the replies so far! It helps a lot to make sure I have everything all done. I don't really want to get them asking for more stuff to be sent after the interview!

So I can bring a certified copy of the birth certificate in case they need it, but they'll take a photocopy for their records hopefully! Luckily I've already had chicken pox (and had the blood test to prove it, since no one could remember if I'd had it!).

No, you need to make a photocopy of your long form birth cert. They will ask for it and they won't make a copy; they'll take your original. It's such an easy thing to do so just photocopy it. If it's like mine it's longer than 81/2 x 11 and I had to use 2 pages to get all the info. They'll look at the original and take the copy.

Reading this thread, a question popped into my head
I am the Canadian on a K1, and I don't remember submitting my email address.

I looked through what we submitted, and I don't see it there.

Am I missing it, or does it originally get sent to my fiancé?

That.. is a really good question. I don't remember putting my e-mail address on it either. I'm going to have to double check now!

Once you case says ready you can go ahead and send packet 3 which you can download yourself. Thats how montreal gets your email address.

Stupid question here, but where do we go to see if our case is ready? Is that why we have to phone the NVC for our case number? Or do we just go to the USCIS case status page with our receipt number?

Yea actually about the NVC.

https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

NVC stands for National Visa Center which is part of thr DOS or Department of State. They are the ones who deal with visas and interviews and embassies and consulates and diplomatic carp. Lol.

USCIS is petitions and adjustments of status. They're part of the Department of Homeland Security like CBP and ICE.

So to get a visa you need to deal with the DOS.

About a week or two after NOA2 you can start calling the NVC for your case number. So in your case call them now.

They seem pretty backed up so I'll be waiting a few weeks. :) There's others in my month who still haven't gotten their case numbers from NVC due to it being about 3-4 weeks behind. Figured I'd start asking the questions here before, just in case! Thanks for the replies!
