PASSPORT EXPIRED. PROBLEM FOR ROC?

Hey Everyone,

Hope all are doing well and remaining calm going through whatever process you're dealing with

I have a quick question. We will be removing conditions for my husband in a month or two, and by that i mean ill be submitting the forms.

i noticed my husband's passport expired at the start of this year. It won't be a problem to get a new one, just a trip to NY, which we will regardless cause he will be traveling and needs to renew it regardless, but I'm just curious to find out does it matter the date of the passport? I would think they would only look for if he has any travel stamps on his passport more so than wether its expired or not, right?

Also, we bought a car together, and i was going through the docs and I noticed they totally butchered my first name on the forms instead of serap they put down sarpa we didn't bother to check those details at the dealer cause, well they had both licenses, its assumed that they can read and copy whats on there exactly. And i never checked it thereafter until last week but my last name is spelled correctly, thank god. would that misspelling be a problem? i will write a letter explaining the situation and attach it to the dealer forms for the reviewer to read and understand why my name is butchered.

One last question. My name isn't on the home lease, cause my credit sucks, I'm blacklisted for another 2 3 years to say the least, thats how bad it is, so i didn't want to adversely affect our chances of getting approved for an apartment and i didn't put my name on the original credit application you have to fill and submit to the people who do the credit check. I didn't know they would only put whoever was on the application to the lease aggrement. I thought we would be able to add me later on. so when we first got the lease i didn't make a deal out of it, figured i can have my name added when time came for renewal, but they didn't send a renewal request for lease they just sent a letter saying we increased the rent, if not willing to pay please vacate.

Anyway, so I called them and they said they don't really add or remove people from lease agreements cause they go by whatever was on the credit check application but i could try sending a letter to the head office and see what they say. I will do that but just incase they don't make an exception to our case, will that be a problem with the USCIS people that I'm not on the lease? like i said, we have a car together, i had applied for that obama care ####### for both of us but ended up not getting it cause it was too expensive, i have letters from the marketplace showing both of our names on it and the options/requests from them etc. we have the utility bill together, although i know that doesn't hold much weight since you can basically add anyone on the account really but none the less we have it. we have joint checking account, he has several credit cards that i have the second card to (my name isn't on any of the bills though for some reason, just on the actual cards), and so far thats all i can think of showing we have comingled stuff. oh and taxes, for 2 years. What else can i show? or is that enough? also, are pictures necessary? cause we only have a few from like parties or dinners we have attended with friends, not much. and some of the selfies we have are a bit to private to show anyone, plus we aren't much photogenic and how helpful will letters from family and friends be?

I forgot to mention. we got married in January of 2014 but since he's cards were sent out in July, he couldn't work and what not, so we couldn't apply for a new apartment, cards and the car until january of 2015 where he had been working for some time with deductions and everything, which is i guess how we got approved for the car to start with, so we basically don't have much to show for the first year of marriage except the joint bank account which i was able to add him as soon as he got his social security card. how many of you think this will be a problem? As i mentioned before, we couldn't get a decent apartment or a vehicle prior to this date cause my credit is terrible.

Passport is not relevant for ROC. It doesn't ask about passport or foreign travel.

You would have to prove that your marriage is legitimate. It requires providing evidence of financial commingling of assets and liabilities. You can read some of my other posts where I have suggested the documentation that should be provided. Also, consider that if you provide below par support then you will receive RFE or an interview if USCIS is not satisfied.

Passport is not required to be valid.

Photos, affidavits are secondary evidence and do not carry any weight in my opinion. USCIS does not care if you are photogenic or not.

Thank you! I only stated the not photogenic thing because I don't like taking pictures due to this reason But I will submit what I have, private and social photos, better to have them see it upfront than be sorry later for not sending and getting called for an interview.

We have had a joint bank account ever since the day he got his social card and we file taxes together for the last two years, which are my strongest evidence of co-mingling, unfortunately i don't have anything else that goes back to the beginning of marriage other than these set of docs. Once i have the whole packet ready I will also post here in detail what I have exactly and dated to when and will require your assistance/reassurance regarding its content and likelihood no RFE/Interview.
