I really don't care for the taste of cooking in the restaurants here. I'm not a fan of fast foods so I know I will definitely be getting my Jamaican dishes on haha.

I'm still getting use to how cheap everything is, especially fruits which I love.

We went to the farmer's market and got some fish yesterday. My fiance was bitten by a crayfish in a large container after I specially told him not to stick his fingers in haha. I laugh as it was supper funny. I love the farmer's market.

We got some ice cream on our way out. Not the best I ever had but the lady gave us some banana fritters that shaped like fish. I love them?Wanted to go back and ask her how they made them.

We are in Grayson. The sun is hot but I am use to it coming from Jamaica.

Hey Vennie, WOW You took first class, that was AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE, it took me 25 hours to reach Atlanta, and I tell you my back and neck hurts like hell. And there wasn't much entertainment or movies on the plane, I watched Jurassic Park throughout for I don't know how many times!

For first class passengers, you should have staffs escorting you to the tripod.

I'm gonna check on Bonefish and Sweet Tomatoes, I have not come across any restaurant that truly meets my standards (Food critic!). Went to this so called Top waffle/breakfast restaurant and it tastes bad, I searched through yelp and tripadvisor, was so disappointed and its expensive!

Aha! You get people begging for money outside walmart too! At my area, we tend to see alot of arrest, theft going on, Yeah my husband usually just tell them he don't have cash only cards which is why we never carry cash around. Or I will pretend I don't speak english! Easy for asian lady of course haha!

When we went to Fulton County Probate Court, we had to come twice too thinking we could get it done in a day :( Oh yesh parking is crazy expensive, spent 15 dollars each trip on it, remember to bring cash for the extra certified copies of marriage certs if youre going to do it in Fulton Probate. Theres an ATM there but I think every withdrawal you gotta pay extra which we had to :(

I didnt like my marriage cert from Fulton because it looks photocopied, black and white paper as compared to other counties, they have nice gold embossed on the stamp.

I remembered I called up the probate court and asked to make sure that it is the original copy because it really looked photocopied.

The utility bills at our apartment is really costly, so we try to on the AC at night only. I really like Gwinnett too, it is much more peaceful as compared to Downtown Atlanta and more asian food choices for me. The food is also cheaper and even tastes better!

I'm hoping to look for a corporate job at that area, because in Gwinnett there aren't many choices for corporate jobs, majority are retail, F&B.

I have to really look deep on lease right now, I don't think I can handle driving from Gwinnett to Downtown Atlanta, the drivers are reckless and they never signal!

I have not explored the whole of Gwinnett yet, just Duluth area, I'm trying to find out where the corporate offices are at.

Yes traffic is horrible!! ... I'm driving my boy to soccer camp in Atlanta and that can be a nightmare sometimes to be honest! ..

Yeah I like it up here especially since we have good schools too! ... And yes you can get plenty of asian food up here we are lucky with that! People up here are very nice. And there are cheap houses to be found which is great! About work I don't know but I'm sure there must be some because they have a lot of big businesses up here.

I always see on newspapers that Duluth houses cost from high 300ks to 500ks. Where should I be looking at for cheap houses? Any idea on the road names etc?

Thanks for encouraging! I really need to explore whole of Gwinnett!

We often just drive around and find places where they are building new houses or we look at zillow. :)

We are also looking at moving to a house next summer so my boy won't have to move school again this year. We live in a townhome now. Big enough for all of us but we just want a house and there are cheaper then 300-500 to be found! :)

I'm not familiar with the real estate and property laws in Georgia.

I might consider taking the real estate course if finances permit to understand more about it since I intend to buy a house in the next two years hopefully.

Ive been trying to look for areas best for our future kids' safety and education, these are the top priority.

Secondly, houses that are contemporary, like modern designs with higher ceilings and bricks wall instead of aluminium/wood.

It seems like the houses in Georgia are very southern designed. I can't seem to find much modern houses in Georgia.

It is too costly to buy a lot and build it up getting an architect to do it though, probably only possible if we purchase a land far away and cheap area.

I'm using Zillow too but the choices are limited, majority of the new houses built are from developers. Been trying to search around for sometime.

Driving around is a great idea, probably I should start doing it too.

Do share with me if you know what are the good school zone areas since you're looking around for your boy.

Thank you so much!

Hey Georgia16, I would like to know more about renting a townhouse/house from landlords.

Is it actually safe to rent from landlords? I have no experience in renting from home owners, apartments are really high lately.

Are there any unreasonable demands from them, what are the things that I should look out for such as hidden fees etc?

We own so I don't know much about it.

There are many of the houses/townhomes near us there are for rent. I think there is something called a renters insurance that you might want to look into. But otherwise I think you can be lucky and unlucky with the people you rent from. I would meet and feel in my stomach who these people are before saying yes to the place. Many are fine and only rent out because they can't sell or because they want to keep the place because of location for when they want to retire.

If you think of schools I would be looking in the Gwinnett area!

Welcome to Georgia. Pretty hot, huh? Haha haha. You're not to far from me and my hubby (who is still waiting to POE)...20 something days to go. Hopefully, you will be able to find some good Jamaican resturants close by to get your fix. There is one that people rave about that has live music on the weekends that close to you and for the life of me I can't think of the name of it...they say their choclate cake is the best. If it comes to mind, I will post it...wait...I think the name of it is Footprints (I don't know if it's still open or not).

Anyways, welcome and I hope you continue to enjoy your stay here.

If you think of schools I would be looking in the Gwinnett area!

I was scouting around Gwinnett area apartments, they are either too deserted or too far off from Atlanta, hard to access for jobs :( They are renting out for at least 1,100 dollars including other fees.

Yesterday there was a protest going on in Atlanta, luckily I left that area an hour in advance.

It seems like the Beltline is a hot trend in property right now, people are flipping houses there, buying in cash. Went to that area, I totally love Glenwood Park estates, its so expensive though from high 400s. Nice environment and the Kroger (marketplace) there is awesome. Sadly the rental is at 1400 including other fees.

The other apartments we have been scouting are either too rundown or crime rate's really high. It is hard to find apartments nowadays especially.

Ive been following gafollowers.com news and whatnow atlanta for latest updates.

I seriously need a job, been starting to look hard these few days, but no calls yet :(

My man works in Atlanta even though we live in Gwinnett. Yes, traffic can be a pain in the ### but if there is no accident it's a 30-40 min ride so not that bad I think.

Sorry to say but $1,100 seems like a fair place to rent out here. You don't have the crime you have in there (Atlanta) and the cheaper you get it the more bad neighbors you also get (if you get what I mean)... What type of job are you looking for? If you don't care and just want one now there are several places out here there are hiring people now. Not great jobs but jobs until you can find the job you want.

the cheaper you get it the more bad neighbors you also get (if you get what I mean)

Back when I was renting, I was told, "Your rent buys your neighbors."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi Guys, been awhile. Had some issue with my cellphone. Got it fixed though. But things have been well. Hope all is well with everyone. Will be getting married next week, thank God?I can't wait. Just wish my family was here but such is life lol.

My biggest complaint is not being able to work. There are a few jobs opening around the Grayson area but I need to be straight first?

I tried applying to some charity programs but just the stress of all the information and run around was tiring n a turn off.

Will see if the churches have anything available.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Glad to hear everything is going fine (except the waiting for work thing).
