Haha...I have to go back to Norcross with my NOA1 because they do not want to change my maiden name to my new last name without my NOA1 or EAD. They wanted to send me to the Atlanta field office to get my name legally changed on all my AOS documents before I can come back and get my name changed on my SS card. I wait until I have my NOA1 in the mail and then I will go back there. They did not want to accept my marriage license as proof of name change.

I have no words for that... :-D

Just remember you have to have at least 14 days left on your I-94 also :)

Great news, husband got a new job! Hes starting new job soon. Finally we are going to see what insurance we can get for changes.

The background checks actually took quite sometime and was really thorough. Now I have a question, they actually called up every single company on his job history.

Since I am from overseas, how do they actually do it? Do they call up my ex employers one by one? I mean the time zone difference its around midnight if they do.  Or is it because its more strict as hes in the IT field?

I can't believe they call up one by one, and said his checks were delayed because they couldn't contact one company which was like 10 years ago.

My ex employers don't really like to be contacted, and some companies I left because I was unhappy with the job. I wonder if the background checks will be that strict for me? Anyone had that experience?

Yeah that's normal overhere .... Not where I come from so when I get a job there will be no one to call!

I know a Swede there just got a job and because of the time difference they mailed the company and waited for that response before they moved on.

On congrats to you and hubby with his new job!

Yeah now I'm afraid of not able to find a job and getting rejected if they couldn't contact my ex employers. They're quite uptight and dont wish to be contacted.

My husband told me this is the first time in his life that they actually called up every single company. Previous experience, he only had people calling the reference.

Hi guys?Congrats on your husband job dear @Roy&Chanel.

I understand your concerns as I had the same ones when I was job hunting last year. My last job was in 2007 as a librarian and I didn't left on good terms with my supervisor. After that I work from home while going to school. So I was very worried about not having any steady references on my resume. So I put my instructor from my school and that was it. They never call my instructor or the library where I worked. They told me they will contact immigration to do a background check and get back to me. They took 3 days and that was it to get back to me.

I think you should be fine. They already did a investigation on me before I came into the country.

But I do hope all will be well with you and your husband.

I am very happy that he got a job?

Yes, thanks Vennie and Georgia16 for the comfort! I'm worried about the gap too, its been quite awhile and I haven't find a job yet.

We are so glad that he managed to find a better job with offers for health insurance benefits. We can finally get out of all the nonsense on "ur wife is a foreigner, u can't include her name in health insurance", etc.

We went to visit High Art Museum today, it is really nice, lots to see! There's European, modern, american art, I love European art. I think this is by far the 2nd most money-worth to visit place other than Atlanta History Center.

We made a visit to GWCC Atlanta International car show, they give discounts of 500 dollars off if you're going to buy a new car within 90 days. Was quite a fun experience!

The traffic is terrible, I've never really been to that area where the underground roads are at. At night, I happened to pass by the street of bars, its really terrible, wouldn't want to live anywhere near there. (Edgewood Ave)

Bad part: We still have to live within Fulton since his workplace is in Atlanta. :(

Cherry Blossom festival's coming, I'm probably going to Macon this weekend, hope there's actual cherry blossom trees. https://cherryblossom.com/
