I've been living in Tucker,Georgia since January 16th (came to the US in a K1-visa ) and got married on February 3rd. I applied for AOS, EAD and AP on February 21st.

I was wondering what documents I need to get a Georgia driver'slicense? I already have a German driver's license.

I had

Passport

EAD

SSN card

bill with my name on it

Car insurance

I think that was it.

That means I have to wait until I have at least my EAD (I wish USCIS would process my application so that I could get my NOA1).

How should I provide a car insurance if I'm not on the insurance yet. Don't I need a drivers license in order for my husband to put me on his car insurance???

No i was put on my husbands insurance before I got my license they used my visa number. But it doesn't matter just bring your husbands insurance then main thing is they want to see there is insurance on the car because you have to take the test in the car.

Don't hang me up on this but I'm pretty sure Germany has some kind of agreement with the US on DL I believe I read it somewhere because me and my husband laughed at it since DK don't have.

Try and search it

Do I really have to wait until I receive my EAD or could I use my NOA1 instead?

Hey! Welcome to the Georgia thread and welcome to Peach State!

Your husband can include your name for car insurance as a passenger not a driver since you do not have a driver's license yet. As for car title, you cannot be included in car title till you have a driver's license.

I've got my learner's permit after EAD too, cos I was rejected with NOA and documents, was told to come back after EAD.

Also, don't forget to apply for State ID since you're on way to DMV, a State ID will help u alot to include your name in bills and bank accounts.

enjoy the cold and hot weather!

Do I really need a learner's permit? I already have a German driver's license.

Can I apply for the state ID with NOA1 or only with the EAD?

I got added on the insurance as a driver because of my danish DL so I'm sure she can do the same too.

I do not have a license yet and I couldn't add as a driver, had Statefarm previously and now progressive, they both don't allow me to be included as a driver up till date.

I guess it depends on country. I have a driver's license in Singapore but they rejected to include as one.

I believe you need to, as learner's permit is to pass the road regulations in Georgia.

I applied my State ID with SSN and I-94 when I first arrived, I was having difficulties including my name in my husband's bank accounts back then, banks refused to do so. (Bofa,Chase,Wells Fargo)

They gave me a temporary paper card State ID and after passing the learner's, I got an actual state ID.
