Hi Guys!

I've been reading posts here in VJ about CRBA since December 2015 and because of the many great advise and detailed posts of members, we have successfully completed our application last April 7, 2016. We have been advised to wait for 4-6 weeks for my daughter's CRBA and passport. However, My fiance and I have a few questions that we failed to ask during our interview. I hope someone could enlighten me and give advise/answers (some I already know the answer but maybe I'm just being paranoid and just want to confirm):

1. My daughter will be receiving her US passport soon. She also has a Philippine Passport (I'm Filipino citizen, my fiance's USC) thus giving her dual citizenship. My future mother-in-law told me that my daughter might need to leave PH and enter the US within 6months. I know that this shouldn't be the case since she's not holding a US Visa but a US Passport instead. From my understanding, she can stay here in the Philippines with me for as long as we want without worrying about using her US passport soon or her US citizenship for that matter.

2. We did not apply for her SSN at the USEM. Her father can just apply for it as soon as he gets back in the US right?

3. She doesnt need to apply for the Exit Clearance anymore since she will be using her Philippine passport if/when she leaves PH for travel abroad.

4. Immigrants need to attend a seminar at CFO. She doesnt need that right?

Sorry because I know I'm being stupid with my questions but after talking to my MIL, I got paranoid. Haha! Hope someone could enlighten me please. :)

You are correct

2. We did not apply for her SSN at the USEM. Her father can just apply for it as soon as he gets back in the US right?

Yeap.

3. She doesnt need to apply for the Exit Clearance anymore since she will be using her Philippine passport if/when she leaves PH for travel abroad.

Nope, since she's also holding a PH passport.

4. Immigrants need to attend a seminar at CFO. She doesnt need that right?

She's exempted from the seminar but you still need to set an appointment to get her certificate and sticker.

Sorry because I know I'm being stupid with my questions but after talking to my MIL, I got paranoid. Haha! Hope someone could enlighten me please. :)

Thanks Lhanz! Another question though about the CFO certificate and sticker. We have travel plans to Japan next month and we're thinking of bringing her with us. We plan to use her US Passport to enter Japan (so no visa is required). Are they still gonna look for the CFO sticker at the airport or will they only look for it when she leaves for the US?

Sadly they will still look for the sticker. You need to show both her US and PH passport (with sticker) upon exit.

I dont think she needs the sticker from cfo....because when we left the phiilppines with my minor son we did not get any of that. At the immigration just show both your phil. and us passport and you are fine. And when you get to your port of entry just show the childs US passport.

@PreciousOne:

I just checked the CFO website and it says there that the seminar is for emigrants, spouse/fiancee and j1 visa holders only. When I started out the process, I already had the impression my daughter wont be needing this since she would be travelling using a valid US Passport and not a visa. Thanks for clearing it up and sharing your experience :)

Hi DontAskWhy,

We were not required to take a DNA test. They're gonna ask for the father's original US passport. That's how you can prove that you are both in the same location at the time of conception. Better if you bring your passport too. With us naman aside from that, the consul focused on how we started our relationship and the fact that the father has been living here with me for 3 yrs na should already be enough proof that we have a real and exclusive relationship. Yan ang kailangan ninyo talaga i-prove. Bring photos of you together (at the time of conception or even while you were preggy). That should help too. :) I even brought printed screencaps of our Facebook check-ins before and during my preggy days pero hindi ko na nabigay. They would rely on your story talaga. Don't worry too much :)
