When calling NVC now, do they no longer even give the caller a received date? Anything that shows the mail from was received from California? or are they just turning away calls unless they show the case is being worked or the MNL number has been assigned? I called CSC, and requested a call back from a tier two supervisor who only read off his card to me even, said to wait a month before calling NVC and said our conversation was over with and hung up.

He stated he has no way to verify that the petition was physically mailed; he did not know how it was mailed, by what routing, USPS, Fed Ex, or how it goes there; and he knew nothing about a "chain of custody", or who actually mails it there. So if it was in an overturned mail truck, caught fire, or disappeared, i guess if you dont' receive any type of notificatons within 6 months to a year, refile.

I see that receiving is showing about 22-27 days from most peoples timelines now; but wondering did they actually get a received date at NVC, and the case number is assigned a couple of days later. Of course I'll just keep waiting, but I'm pretty sure the approx mail time even by good old USPS probably doesn't take 3 weeks to get there.....unless of course it was lost completely, which with them is more likely the case than just being slow. ??

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You got your notice of approval on March 24, so you need to start calling the NVC every day until they give you your MNL case number. Once you have your MNL case number, you can pay the visa application fee, schedule an interview, and complete the medical.

If the NVC tells you to call back in two weeks or four weeks, ignore them and call again the next day. You should have your MNL case number pretty soon and then you can start rolling.

Yes that's correct; March 24; yes I started calling on April 4; however, their reply is that is NOT EVEN IN THERE system. NOT RECEIVED is their answer; that was the point of my original post and wondering if they are telling everyone that. Possibly just because its not in the system...entered into the data base that is, so I asked if they had any type of chain of custoday, list of what they mailed from CSC to NVC. No they do not they say.

One person I think it was last year, their paperwork disappeared ?? and NVC never got it? so they started over. I just didn't want to sit here for months like that. I guess next I'll send email with the case number to NVC and inquire.

Maybe a bar code system on the package envelope would help them to scan it and then an auto email/text, could be sent to petitioners, just like noa1 and 2s are done. I thought they used to at least say "its been received on ?date" but no case number yet. At least then you know it made it there. No doubt sometimes on gets lost, misplaced, someone dumps their Wendy's lunch on it or something?? haa oh well, thanks I will keep calling and if nothing by end of week, I"ll send them an email to NVC to inquire.

Youhave nothing to worry about. It's still early. It could take another week or two to get your MNL case number. Just keep calling every day.

If you keep calling, you'll get your MNL case number a lot faster than those people who simply wait for the NVC to notify them. And you will be way ahead of the game compared to those people who wait for the U.S. Embassy Manila to notify them that they are eligible to schedule an interview. Way way ahead.

It can take a couple weeks AFTER you get your NOA2 from USCIS before NVC receives the case file, then another week before the MNL# is assigned. For details on the complete K-1 process in Manila follow the flashing arrow below in my signature.
