So my wife had her medical day 1 today. Pretty much the standard from all the SLEC reviews we have read. She has to go back tomorrow at 2 pm for results and hopefully immunization. She has never had any medical history at all. No bad sickness other then the occasional cold when we were abroad in colder climates so we are both hoping for the best. Is it still true that if they ask you back in the afternoon you are good to go? I have read that several times but mostly dated entries here. Or is that just a myth ?

You are referring to potential TB issue? You will not know until tomorrow, the guard will either send her to get vaccinations or schedule for the SPUTUM

just to update she passed everything fine, I booked my flight for the May 2nd interview. Hopefully I'll be bringing her home with me mid May sometime.

Congratulations. Don't book her ticket till she has her visa in hand. We have seen many over the years buy tickets only to be delayed. I'd recommend that she get the CFO out of the way now as it sometimes is booked 3-4 weeks out.

@hank. Thanks yea it's a big relief.

@greenbaum. No I won't book it. We are going to Thailand for a few days to relax before flying back. Just going to book from there. I took the whole month of May off so even with a small delay we should be ok. ( barring no AP).

I still have a small concern over the Chinese police certificate. Even though they covered her entire stay in China 2010-2015 they only used her married name (which was changed in 2013). We gave them all the information for both names but they only added her married name. NVC approved it but I'm a little stressed about it anyway.

Isn't it you can only booked the CFO online upon having immigrant visa on hand?

You can also go to CFO if you change passport name

You can complete CFO without the visa, they will give you the certificate upon completion, then you have to come back later, once you have the visa, to get the sticker in your passport.

Now that there is the appointment system it is fairly easy to simply complete CFO after your visa is delivered. What you save by doing CFO early is time, scheduling for CFO is usually two weeks out, but getting the sticker doesn't require an appointment, just stop by with your passport/visa.
