Hey guys,

Just wanna make sure I have all my bases covered here, so we got our NOA2 yesterday - and it's my understanding now that the case is sent to the NVC, where it remains for a couple of weeks - after a couple of weeks we have to call them, get our case number, then I have to call the US embassy in London to schedule an appointment. Is that correct?

K1 Fiance Visa:

02/03/2016: I-129F sent

02/23/2016: Hardcopy NOA1 received

04/07/2016: NOA2 approved

04/12/2016: Hardcopy NOA2 received

When your case arrives in London, the consulate will send a letter to the beneficiary with instructions on how to proceed. These are the instructions. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

You don't call for an appointment. They will assign one when you have completed the steps. Don't start the London application part before the case arrives there. You can look over the document list and start getting your documents ready now and order your police certificate. Also go get your shots sorted and proof of your immunizations from your GP office. Some are slow to provide that to you and you need it before your visa medical exam.

Thanks, police certificate is ordered and I'm up to date with my vaccinations. I've heard I need to call NVC to get a case number after 2 weeks or so in order to book the medical?

That is not actually a requirement. London will notify by letter when they have your case. However, those that like to hang on hold a long time call the NVC over and over to find out their case number by phone ahead of receiving the letter. The medical people ask for your LND number when you call for an appointment to make sure you are not booking it before London is ready. So you may call NVC as a trick to get a medical appointment sooner, but it would be best for your medical results not to arrive at the embassy before your case or before you have completed Step 1 of the instructions.
