As everyone mentioned here, you have to file for taxes even if you are working abroad and earning more than 10k.

Speak to a Tax accountant and have him/her file taxes for you...You still have time to file. It is the law that has changed to include any US Citizen working abroad to file.

Let's say that you were born in the US, but moved to Venezuela as a kid and lived there until now. There's no reason why you have to file taxes in the US, but you have to prove that you have filed taxes abroad (in the countries you've lived). There isn't dual taxation and US "kids" don't start filing taxes in the US as soon as they start working where they live overseas.

You will have to prove you have funds to support your spouse by other means.
