So.... the consensus is to have her apply for a B-2 tourist visa and if denied ......"that is the way the cookie crumbles."

And as a result we will not be able to visit my country and my extended family.

Before anyone launches barbs, yes, I am fully aware that is my choice to live outside of my country of birth and citizenship.

You wife seems to have some decent ties already. Having traveled to other countries and returned is also something they seem to look at when deciding to issue a tourist visa.I knew a woman in the Philippines, who was married to a seaman. He was an officer on ship, and could bring his wife if she could get a visitors visa to the USA. They owned a home and had 4 kids back there, but still she was rejected multiple times. Then she got a passport and traveled around SE Asia, just a few trips. After that when she applied, suddenly she was approved. Now she regularly gets visas and travels on the ship with her husband. So if your wife hasn't done so, get her passport and start making a few trips. Those stamps in the passport can make a huge difference.
