Sorry to hear that N&J. You don't have nothing to loose. You can apply for K1 but you ask you morocan fiance if he had been petitioned before.if he answered yes.so better not.

Thank you for your response. No he has never been petitioned before. We actually had a few conversations about him trying to get a tourist visa to come visit before I apply for anything. I never knew it was that hard to get tourist visas. His friend works with fossils and travels for work. He said the US is the hardest place to get a visa for, even for work. I know he has been to Spain and stuff...But never petitioned to come here or any place else. I don't think he ever planned on moving to be honest.

Just to let u know about your ex. He never gonna get papers even if he marry other..Bz you are the petisioner in his visa has your mane so if you report him to uscis it's good bz that way you are free of responsibility. So he must know if he go out of US.he never ever gona be granted any visa again even if another us petition him. In other words he gonna live here Ilegal. I have friend she was K1.then she got problem with the man and she stay in us ilegal until now. She marry another us citizen here but she sill ilegal. Just forget about the ex..and file for your Moroccan.don't be afraid all you have to do is. Prepare all documents in order and go for your new love.

We got married in five days in Morocco. It took A LOT of running around, and a few bribes. Started paperwork on Monday, Friday afternoon we were signing our marriage license with an adoul. (I think that's what you call the legal guy, haha). Wedding party on Monday. Our circumstance were long and difficult. I took 2 weeks to get married there, but because of an error from the uscis, we thought our original k-1 was reaffirmed. We didn't find out until 5 days later it was a mistake, which left us with 5 business days to get the paperwork done. We had to travel to Rabat, and Casablanca. We paid some guy on the street $10 and he ran us around to all of the places we needed to go for stamps and such. Totally doable if you are staying there for 52 days!

It took us only 9 days, I believe. As Tany1157 said, it took a lot of running around, and my hubby knew some people on the police force, and there was, at least, one bribe. It's very doable in your 52 days. I scanned some of my papers and emailed to my hubby so he was able to start getting them translated. Best wishes!

Having done a K1 once, I'd never do one again. Get married and do the CR1 for all the reasons that you've stated (paperwork, expense, work authorization).

Be prepared for some extra scrutiny of you. AP for the beneficiary is a given.

Be prudent with your "explanation letter." The focus of the process should be on the new beneficiary, not the ex spouse. If they want to know more details, they will ask. Anything submitted will be fair game for the interview. Your new spouse/fiance should know the story so that he can answer any questions the CO may have.

Thank you. I have to figure out what we are going to do. I will bring all my originals with me and if we can get married we will. It seems like it may be the better option.

I know how hard it is to get married in Morocco but IMHO, if you want a fighting chance, CR-1.
