For my wife, I actually bought a RT ticket not only because it was cheaper but I also realized that it's possible it may not work out (luckily for us it did). I just made sure the return trip didn't pass the 90 day from entering the US, so she wouldn't incur a ban.

I'm curious if people talk about what they plan to do if the relationship doesn't work out.

We didn't talk about it too. Though now, we always joke about it. I haven't been homesick too. We got lucky.

Wow... it's hard to believe that your relationship failed.

Basically, you are telling us that the basis of your relationship is cost. American women are perceived to be more expensive? So you thought that a foreign woman from a poor country would worship you at your feet for rescuing her that she would never ask for anything (clothes, shoes, makeup, etc.) Your whole analogy of women to cars is very creepy. I'm not the over-sensitive PC type either and it bothers me. Apart from that your wife is entering the prime of her life while you are hitting your midlife crisis. Age in itself can be overcome, but not with (see above) working against her.

Sadly that mentality is pretty common among men who marry young women from the Philippines. Probably why I sadly can't take relationships between an older man and a younger filipino seriously, they just make me think of human trafficking.

Takes two to tango.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

keyboard warriors have all types of opinions based on their personal prejudices. Doesn't seem to matter who they marry, from where or the age difference.
