Hi, does anyone ever experienced a situation where in they got Denied as some, yes only some of your BC details are kinda confusing?

like, My mother's first letter of her first name on my Birth certificate supposed to be "R" but due to ink mess, it became "B". and My fathers first two letters in his first name supposed to be "An" but brecaame "Ar". they used typewriter. would this be a problem for me and to the US consular?

do they accept Copy of BC from the town where I registered? or they wi just denied it?

I have been reading about this from various threads and this is some of the answers I found...

1- When you take your passport with you along with your BC, the counselor will determine by looking at your BC and am sure they are experienced on catching typo errors such as yours specially in the Philippines.

2- File with the NSO to have the mistake on the BC corrected. Am sure the NSO have a complete records of your parents. This might take months to process unless you know someone who can expedite it or hire a lawyer.

3- Just go to the interview, show all your documents including your passport that has the correct names. You can explain this to the CO and let him/her be aware that you have filed with the NSO. You might be lucky and tell you no need for it or, get you approved and ask you to have it corrected for the future.

4- Yes, there was few people being denied but for much worse than in your case. They either had missing names, or names are completely different. In your cases, if its only typo then my personal opinion you should be fine.

Anyone else experienced this might be of help to you here...I hope they can respond to you...Good luck!

Do you already have a Philippine passport with your correct name on it? Passports are based on your BC so if DFA accepted your BC you should be fine. As long as your BC has your name as per passport, you do not have to worry.

CO is not particular with parents name at this point in your K1 application; what's important is your BC, matches your passport and CEMAR. But on your forms, make sure to write the correct name of your parents. It is common here that BC are not legible, some hand written mix with type written or with ink blots. Technically as you explained, the names are correct it is just ink blots and typing problems.

My mom's names is Lina on my BC that is her nick name. I have no problem at all and I am no plans to have it corrected since I don't need to petition them in the future. They are already in the US.

Now, if you plan to petition your parents in the future they must have the problem sorted out. That can be easily supported by an affidavit and other government issued ID. If not, don't worry about it. If asked during the interview, tell them the problem.

This is awesome to know Christina. Well, I got my passport just few days ago. i was just really worry as I know how Strict and tight the US Consular on Fino's and their Documents. Was thinking this might become a hindrance for a visa approval. But I would most definitely will have my first name At least be changed for clearer readings as My name's first letter is kinda blurry too.

Since It was Lina (your mother's nick name) written on your BC, Did you used Lina as well on all your forms for your Mother's name or her real name?

My fiance was about to submit all the documents to the USCIS, But I told him to hold, as I seemed will get some trouble with my BC. :D Plus, Making a change of BC is not a short process. So I told him to wait until confirmed.

No, i put in her correct name on all my papers and never made any changes on my BC. My Mom is in the US and all her papers are on her full name. Her BC is also correct.

You guys can go ahead and submit your I-129F. If your name was really different from BC i.e. Regina and Regine - then have it corrected. Otherwise, that's fine.

I did have my brother's BC corrected since he was petitioned by my Mom, my mom's name was also Lina on his BC. It took almost 2 months to have it corrected and I have to travel to his birthplace to have it corrected on the local Civil Registrar. There was no issue when they filed years ago, he is approved and just waiting for his priority date which will be sometime next year.. I just know that it will be an issue when he apply for his Visa from the US Embassy since my mom is his petitioner .

No issue regarding the typos with your parent's names, just complete everything as is.

USEM requires the PSA/NSO BC and CENOMAR.

Follow the embassy instructions letter for what is required.

Follow the flashing arrow below for details on the K-1 process.

my NSO BC is not very clear and almost not readable, I asked my mother to get a copy of my live birth record in our LGU and I always submit it with my NSO BC,

I never encountered a problem. :)

Were you approved? You submitted your PSA BC along with the local copy and CO never questioned it nor say they don't need the other copy?
