I transfered money form my natwest account into my fiance's BOA account but I put the wrong swift code in as I am transferring in us dollars. It also wouldn't let me put both the swift code and NIC number it was either one or the other. Has anyone had any experiences with this?

i had some issues where the bank couldn't transfer a while ago. I solved it using xoom. But their are more around.

Okay yes you only need to use one or the other alongside his or her bank account number.

If you don't like doing it that way I suggest you check out HiFx as they cover your transfer all the way. They are the top uk money transferring service company.

Very easy to set up an account and money only takes a few hours to be sent and depending on your wife's bank, it normally clears in 24-48hours

I would also agree with 'transferwise'. From my experience gives a much better exchange rate than the bank.

Personally I tried to use XE but the sign up process was so lengthy. I seem to remember needing to scan in documents and send it to them to validate my identity. I did it and something wasn't right and they had to call me and what they told me made me fed up (don't remember entirely what it was) - I was fast approaching my leaving date from England so I decided to use Transferwise instead and it was incredibly easy. I've never turned back! My sister just used them too and let me tell you she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and she managed to do it .

I just tried a test transfer using transferwise and the payment didn't land in his bank account. Transferwise are looking into it now so we will find out where the issue is. In the meantime I'm going to look at XE before I send a substantial amount of money over! I'll keep you updated.

Did you wait long enough? I think it took a few days. My husband transferred around £15,000 and it was pretty flawless.

I did, it's really good at tracking and it should have been in to his account on Monday May 2 but today (Thursday) I thought we'd waited long enough and chased it up. We checked the routing and account numbers and all was good so that poor 1$ has gotten lost somewhere in the stratosphere!

Hahaha...the poor dollar may have gotten gobbled up in fees and red tape. Maybe splurge and go for a fiver?.
