We submitted the AOS in the beginning of Aug., 2006. We promptly did the biometrics and received the EAD. (we also did receive a NOA1) .

HOWEVEr since then we have received not a word from immigration. We have been expecting to get an interview date for some time, but still nothing. Should we begin to worry (do INFO pass) or just hang tight for a few more months. Its been about 8 months since we submitted AOS and no word on even an interview date. is this normal. Our local office will probably be in the Maryland (DC metro area)

They are processing applications from April 06, so they seem to be behind many of the offices. You could try an infopass appointment, but usually when the office has a waiting time of greater than 6 months, they are pretty accurate.

I would at least be giving them a call to see if you can get any information that way. An infopass appointment at your local office is prolly a good idea as well.

Being that your "outside" of processing times. You can call the misinformation line and ask them to put in a service request. This will at least have them locate the file and get a current status report.

I would call just to check-I think some Sept. filers are getting interview notices-on the USCIS site you can check to see what your local office is-you can put in your zip code and it will tell you. As I learned recently on VJ-biometrics loc does not always indicate DO location.

Are these the dates for family based immigration? The only thing I've been able to find were employment based I-485's.

That page doesn't explicitely state that the I-485 time is employment applications only.

However, I agree I've heard rumours that those processing numbers are for employment only also, but have yet to see any hard evidence back that up.
