Has anyone here had a problem with receiving mail from uscis? Let me start from the beginning... my husband filed my I485 and I130 both on 10-of November2015 January of this year I received a letter stating that I have an appointment to do my biometrics on the 11th of January.. which I went to and did... apparently on the 19th of that month they sent me a letter but I didn't get it because it was "undeliverable" I found this out the 1st of march... I contacted them and reschedule to receive the letter in the mail and they gave me a date which was March 23. Time had passed and nothing came so we (my husband and I) contacted uscis on the 1st of April... they said the following week they would try sending it in the mail ... to no avail I still got nothing and on the 5th of April I received a email stating that my case was administratively closed due to undelivered mail... called again today and the women whom I spoke with stated she was placing it in the system to be reopen due to administrative error and in 5 days I would get it in the mail.. my concern is that why is this part of my process so difficult to mail when they have already sent me letters (bio metrics) in the mail which I've always received... I haven't changed address or anything.. everything is still the same... what is it that they are mailing me which seems to be so difficult for me to receive.. please help any advice would be appreciated..

Do you have your name inside your mailbox? This can cause problems, if it's not there (and one mailman maybe more stringient than another).

It's probably an RFE that they are trying to send you. Call USCIS, insist on being transferred to a Tier 2 representative. Then ask them to fax you the letter as well as resend it in the mail. Some people here could convince them to fax it to them. That way you can start working on the RFE.

What does RFE stand for please! And no neither my or my husband name is in/on the mailbox.. live in a large apartment complex and only thing on the box is our apartment number... also I'm on a b1/b2 visiting visa.. and my 6 months is days away to be up.. the lady from uscis told me to apply to extend the visa using form I539.. is that the correct way to go?

RFE stands for "Request For Evidence". That means they need further evidence that wasn't supplied in your original packet.

You need to have your name on your mail box. The US Postal Service is not supposed to deliver the USCIS mail to any mailbox that doesn't have the recipients name on it.

Filing for an extension at this point would be moot and a waste of money. Any overstay you may accrue while waiting to be approved for a greencard will be forgiven due to that fact that you are married to a US citizen.
