Medical appt then quickly interview?

We have to have medical appointment and the interview completed in Moscow. They recommend that the medical appointment is scheduled 10-14 days before the interview. Can you think of any really good reasons to not schedule the medical appointment only 5 days before the interview? Due to the long travel distance to travel to and from Moscow we would like to try to get both completed as close together as possible.

Because they the the results from the medical before they send them to the embassy. You just won't be approved before they have your medical results.

I forgot to mention that my understanding is that in Moscow the medical results are given to us and we hand carry them to the interview ourselves. I did find another thread that leads me to believe that it will be ok to do it close together.

I would ask in the russian forum because this is specific to that country every country does it differently

Yes many folks do what you are proposing, even in less time. Minimum I believe is 2 days, first to do the exam and 2nd to get the results.

Don't forget to ask for and pay for the DS-3025 form. Needed for AOS.

The only reason to do it before is if they have suspicions of TB, they have to take cultures and send them a lab to get definitive results. This will take longer than 14 days anyway.

Otherwise, schedule the medical before the interview. In Ukraine, we did the medical the day before the interview (there they give back the results that same day), so as long as you get the results back before the interview that you can bring to the embassy with you, it doesn't matter when you do it.

My wife (fiancé at the time) did her medical in Moscow on Wednesday and had her interview on Friday back in March 2013. We used Thursday to go pick up the medical results. She had a similar issue living in Krasnoyarsk, as she did not want to make multiple trips to Moscow. All turned out fine.

I've had my K-1 interview the very next day after exam and did just fine. If you do exam in MOM center in the morning before some deadline and there is no issue with your health that require extensive tests, they give you results the same day in the afternoon so next morning you can take them to the Embassy (at least how it used to be in 2012), so I just scheduled my interview right after exam. Mostly I did it this way to save money on staying in Moscow and there was nothing to do for me anyway because it was very cold February (about -22F in the daytime) when you don't want to go otside unless you have to. If there're some health concerns that require extra tests you never know how long it will take anyway, but if staying few extra days in Moscow isn't a big deal for your wallet it's safer to take a few days gap between medical and interview.
