Hello guys,

So i've been thinking about something and realized that it's a good question to ask.

So would you move to your fiance/fiancee country to live there and do such a turnover in your life what they are doing for us? And why did you choose to live in USA and not in her/his country?

If for any reason they wouldn't come to US would you move there to be with them and start your life there? My reasons are :

1 - I can not see myself leaving my family and seeing them only once a year or so

2 - Israel i s not the best country due to it's war and terror acts ( not that there aren't any in NY but it's different)

3 - America has many open doors to everyone and that's where i would want to raise my kids

So.........what are your reasons and why did you make the choice that you did?

we chose the us because there is just more work opportunities here. period.

i guess i would move there.... i've thought about it on and off a lot. it would be so exotic and exciting...at first. but i KNOW after a while it would wear off and i would miss the comforts of home. i would miss my family and friends badly.

my mom keeps bringing up the fact that what if HE misses morocco and wants to go back? then what? it is a scary thought.... but i am willing to compromise and feel them both out. i'm going to do my best to make it as comfortable here for him as possible.

Oh Jen all moms are the same.

My mom was afraid before too that what if he'll miss israel and everything he left there........but he only got a brother and friends there and the rest of the family is in Ukraine so he's used to not being with them. But with everyday i am more and more convinced that right now I am his #1 concern and priority and everything else is secondary. ;)

But yeah, i was thinking about it too and i am not sure i would be able to move due to their wars. Maybe move to more neutral country like Canada if needed to

he says he will miss his family but thats what visiting is for. he's really looking to change his entire life. ihope he realizes what he's getting himself into. i do hope that down the line we can buy a house, riad, something in morocco so we can visit a lot. i'm not opposed to moving there or anywhere in the world really......its just more practical to come here for now. who knows what the future will bring. i think its wonderful your fiance is willing to leave everything to be with you!!!!! (and mine) we are all very lucky as usc's to have someone to sacrifice for us:)

yeah buying a house would be nice but i know it's not realistic for us right now......hopefully he'll find a good job that's his major and then will see.

yeah, mine is looking forward to some change and he said the biggest happiest change is for us to be finally together without saying " good bye" and being able to wake up EVERYDAY next to each other :P

All I'd need in my wife's country would be political stability (a decent level of predictability would suffice) and some degree of economic opportunity - not talking riches but sustainability at a comparably comfortable level as we enjoy here. If those were given, we'd be on the next plane. Seeing that neither exists over there, the choice between here and there was rather easy to make.

When I asked about this to my fiance, he said one of so many other reasons why he chose for us to live in the US would be because the health care is so much better there. He also mentioned that he is convinced that he would be a better provider in the US than anywhere else.. *shrugs*. But he said he might consider moving somewhere closer to Indonesia that has a similar culture/life to the US if he could ever get a good job there..could it be Australia? Haha... I dunno. But for at least 3-4 years, we'd have to live in the US because he's in the Navy until 2010.

He moved here for me.

1. I owned a condo, he was living with his parents.

2. I had a great job...he didn't

3. He has already been travelling for the past 5 years...and had no real "home"

4. I am WAY more attached to my family than he is to his...

BUT

We totally plan on moving back to Australia in a few years!! Once he finished school...game on :)

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I have a few things to take care of here that will take a few years, but after that, I would go to Paris in a heartbeat!

I absolutely would move to PI. If fact we were taking the dual track approach all along. If I could have found a job that would have supported us all we would have done that. But since her visa came through before I could find a decent job she is coming here. We still plan on retiring to PI in about 10 years. I love it there!

I would, too! I love Paris...

We have discussed this topic at length, before starting the visa process. My husband gets very frustrated with his fellow countrymen every once in a while and seriously considered moving to Germany. His German is pretty good and since he is working for a Germany-based company, finding a job would have been possible, too.

For him, it's only his lifestyle that keeps him in the US. He's a goose and duck hunter, loves fishing, needs a ton of space around his home and is generally pretty anti-social! So he fits in here darn well! I don't, I'm a city person and need lots of social contacts to feel at home somewhere. We moved closer to Minneapolis so that I'm able to enjoy culture every once in a while without making a day trip.

It was just a matter of who would have to compromise first. Since he makes good money right now (more than I did), I had to pack my bags first. I'll make him pack his one day too!

MOney. It's that simple. In 10 years we can take care of the economic opportunities here and make it much easier to move to Morocco to carry out the life we want.
